Anyone's boys do the entrance exam last you know how many boys sat the exam?

Mumtogremlins Thu 15-Jan-15 13:32:11

My DS sat the exam but not sure how many did. How did he find it?

butty4 Thu 15-Jan-15 13:53:06

He found the comprehension more challenging that the other papers. Others he found pretty straight forward.

Butty saw you on RGS thread. DS did Salesian too. He thought Salesian much better, finished all papers and came out laughing. He really likes Salesian.

butty4 Thu 15-Jan-15 21:21:29

Yes Tom likes Salesian too, but has his heart set on RGS, like most of us.

Kay34 Tue 27-Jan-15 13:19:27

Anyone heard from Salesian yet? Other schools are starting to offer and the (fingers crossed) silence from RGS but nothing from Salesian.

We're still waiting (albeit not v hopefully - DS had an essay disaster). It's supposed to be this week I think. Apparently they tell the schools the day before!

Wellington15 Wed 28-Jan-15 15:56:31

I heard that the school would hv known today n that we will know tomorrow

Kay34 Wed 28-Jan-15 20:09:38

Wellington, went well for your DS.

Wellington15 Wed 28-Jan-15 20:52:21

Boys had a tour too. Maths was harder esp last few questions. He couldnt complete the last one. I am not that worried as i told him good work as he came this far! X

Kay34 Wed 28-Jan-15 20:55:09

He's done amazingly to get that far. They deserve something in any event for the extra effort!

Kay34 Wed 28-Jan-15 20:58:23

Is rgs his favourite or is he tempted elsewhere? I think most of us on this thread have a similar decision.

Wellington15 Wed 28-Jan-15 22:23:01

He prefer RGS as his brother is there too. He took reading blue coat as well.

Wellington15 Wed 28-Jan-15 22:24:16

How about u kay34? Is ur DS keen in RGS only? Looking at the thread, looks like all NOs has gone out. X

Kay34 Thu 29-Jan-15 05:22:00

He falls into the category of a good all rounder rather than an academic. He likes the sport, particularly football at Salesian but we wonder whether Salesian is a little outdated . He sat lord wandsworth and was invited to sit scholarship papers but we think it is too small and not competitive enough.

Wellington15 Thu 29-Jan-15 06:25:22

I think RGS will be great for ur DS. I am not sure whether my DS will get Salesian as we are not catholic. Recently Salesian has been awarded outstanding by ISI. X

Kay34 Thu 29-Jan-15 09:32:22

Reading looks like the perfect mix between the two. Just a bit awkward to travel to for us. Similar to Hampton, academic footballers! But too far for us.

Wellington15 Thu 29-Jan-15 10:17:51

Hi, just found out from Salesian that the results are being sent today so we will receive tomoz. X

fullsuspension Thu 29-Jan-15 11:47:39

Thanks Wellington. Getting a bit stressed here, plus the fall off in GCSE results of his state options isn't really helping my mood sad

Kay34 Thu 29-Jan-15 15:29:41

Wellington, you have made me think twice. I may post on the rgs thread for info about sport at rgs. Thx

Wellington15 Thu 29-Jan-15 17:03:21

Hope all with the GCSE option. I hv to choose this year for my eldest. He is not keen in languages! Tough choicessad

Wellington15 Fri 30-Jan-15 09:27:15
