Today's AQA Higher Maths GCSE

Following on from the other thread, my son did the AQA maths exam this morning.
He is a predicted A student - in all previous mocks, past papers etc has only ever been graded A.
He told me it was really difficult. In fact another child in his class actually cried afterwards saying he thought it was really hard.
So that I can get some perspective, did anyone else's child say anything about it.
Maths was the one exam that I wasn't overly worried about for my son but now I just have a knot in my stomach.
Will it come down to grade boundaries if today's test was harder than previous papers?

Ds found it hard too, but he's not an A* student and didn't prepare much as he passed last year. School put them in for it again to get a better grade but he's happy with what he already has.

I think general view is that it was quite hard so lower grade boundaries

It's done now so no point worrying but fingers crossed

Thanks Mitzi and Snozzle
Yes, done now, no point in worrying I guess.
He is Aspergers though and just 'gets' maths. He has A*d every previous maths paper/mock effortlessly (not in any other subject though) so I am so worried about his self esteem if he doesn't get at least an A (which he needs to do further maths at AS)
sheesh, these GCSEs are so hard for parents

LaydeeC -DS also needs to maths at A/AS level as he wants to do Engineering. If your DS "gets maths" I'm sure he'll be ok Wine

Thanks Mitzi
I feel utterly depressed reading that student board.
Here's hoping that Friday is a bit better.
Will definitely need WineWineWine on Friday eve

It was really tricky and there were a number of questions very different to usual.
Remember that the other paper on Friday accounts for 60% of the marks and the combined mark gives the final grade.
General consensus from my students that it was very difficult. For reassurance google previous grade boundaries for AQA I think in June 2012 the marks needed were very low as a difficult paper.
Try and ask your son to focus on accuracy on the 'easy' stuff, lots of re reading the question and I hope he will be happier after Friday's exam ??
