Secondary education

Farlingaye - Woodbridge

Hi there

We are looking to move away from Surrey and are looking for great secondary options. We really like the look of Farlingaye. Does anyone have any experience to share? Also, we googled Woodbridge and dh thought it looked too sleepy for us. We only live in a market town so aren't exactly rocking it at the moment. But wouldn't want anything too rural. Do any other busier places feed into it? And primaries - any guidance? Thanks so much. I really do appreciate any replies!

I have a DS in yr 12 at Farlingaye - I have been impressed, in the main, with the school (although he has only been there for Yr 12, not since Yr 7) and it has a very good reputation locally.

We live about 11 miles from Woodbridge, in a very rural location - we like it as a town, and would consider moving there (when we retire and need to be nearer amenities), as it has cinema, theatre, swimming pool, lovely library, great range of independent shops including good bookshop, train to London (via Ipswich) etc. Also lovely riverside walks. There is a lot of sailing if that is your thing. Nearby is Snape with concert hall, lots of interesting shops/galleries, Aldeburgh - beach, carnival, theatre, cinema etc. Suffolk is great for locally produced food, lots of arts festivals etc and London is only about 1.5 hours away by train.

I can't help on Woodbridge primary schools I'm afraid.

You might get more replies by posting in Chat I think, to see which other Suffolk/Woodbridge M'netters have to say about Farlingaye and /Woodbridge

There is a very good and popular C of E primary in Woodbridge. You may have to sign up to a Church to get in though.

Thank you. I think a visit to Suffolk is on the cards. Glad to hear your children like Farlingaye. It looks a nice school.
