My son is having a few issues with his school John Fisher. He is in year 7 and his grades have dropped down to year 5 level. He doesnt seem to get any homework and what he does have he's not reprimanded if he doesnt do it.
There have been many occasions of fighting. And also a few of his class mates have shown him pornography and when he informed the teacher they didn't seem to care. . Just wondered if anyone else is having education or pastrol issues with this school?

That doesn't sound like what I normally hear about John Fisher. Are you absolutely sure you're getting the full story? Particularly with respect to homework, as I get spun that story buy my DSs (different school) only to find it's not quite true.

I would email the head of year or form tutor.

Ive requested several meetings with the school and never get a reply till I go in and request. They say its not a worry. Yet im so worried. He was such a bright boy. V quiet and yet hes now loosing grades. When I asked about the fighting and pyrography they just said "its boys being boys". . He's 12.

Hmm, strange, but definitely raise your concern writing a letter directly to the Headteacher.

I have boys in year 10 at JF. They hardly got any homework in year 7 (rugby is the thing). Year 8 - a little more homework but not loads (Rugby still prominent). Year 9 - a little more homework (rugby less important - if a boy didn't want to participate didn't need to. Year 10 - now - still not a lot of homework but additional revision classes put in if the boys want to go to them.

It took me a while to get used to JF but I am happy with the school and would rather they went there in comparison to other Croydon state schools. But, extremely different in comparison to St Phils (where my dd goes).

Re: your issue, ask for a meeting with his class tutor - but the tutor will expect your ds to say what happened with the porn etc. Re: his grades etc., when they say it's not a worry, why is not a worry? They need to be able to tell you why?
