School for bright teen boy with social communication disorder and anxiety

Any help would be much appreciated. We have been home schooling our 15 year old DS for around a year, after taking him out of his private school following bullying and a surprise diagnosis of ASD ( no indications of this until secondary school). We would like him to go back into a school/college environment this autumn but cannot see him fitting in anywhere. He is very bright and quite academic, but is completely awkward in social situations, particularly with his peers. He has recently had a further diagnosis suggesting his main problem is pragmatic language disorder - he can come across as quite rude and sometimes quite difficult, though he is basically a good, hard-working child. We are in the south east but would consider moving to find the right place for him. He should be going into Yr 11 this September though is doing some gcses this year. Thank you for your help with this.

Where do you live? Are you looking for boarding or day? Does he have a Statement of SEN?

Thank you for your reply. We live in Herts but would move anywhere commutable to London (for DH's work). Probably day but might consider boarding if it was absolutely right for him. No we don't have a Statement. Any suggestions gratefully received!

St Chris?

I have considered St Chris but I believe they would make him go back a year which is not ideal, and am not sure it's quite right for him, though it is a possibility. Thanks.

I would seriously consider going down the statement route. Soon to be replaced by education care/and health plans. You can set the process in motion yourself. Check out IPSEA website.
The priory group of schools have a good reputation but are probitivly expensive for most.
Its also worth looking at state schools. Look at those with ASD provision and those without. You will probibly need a statement to access ASD provision and specialist ASD schools.
Herts dfoesnt have a brilliant reputation for special needs. SOSSEN may also be a useful contact.
