We are considering a move to Cornwall - does anyone have experience of Truro School? I'd Be Really grateful for your thoughts.

Anybody out there in Cornwall?

I left in 1989 when it was still TS for Boys with girls in the 6th form, having been to a great state school first. I have friends with children there today who are perfectly happy. If I moved back home again I wouldn't hesitate in sending my child there.

However, if you expect your traditional "up country" highly selective, pressurised private school, you may be disappointed. Don't forget as well that the school covers a huge geographic area & it can be hard to maintain friendships out of school (40 miles easily takes at least an hour). There are excellent state schools, so it's perfectly feasible to get a good education without having to go privately in the county.

Kernowal thanks very much. Are you still in Cornwall?

Sadly not. I went to uni after leaving TS & like virtually everyone else in my year couldn't go home as there were almost no well paid professional jobs where you could progress up the career ladder. You don't live in Cornwall if you want a decent income e.g. a solicitor with over 20 year's specialist experience is still a basic rate tax payer in my family. Everyone fights over a small number of jobs, which keeps pay very low and housing unaffordable because of the second home market. I would drop everything to move back home if I could though. Sorry, I don't mean to rant.
