I believe Beaverwood has got better in recent years, but in would still go for Darrick.

I was chatting to someone recently who was very happy with Beaverwood. She has a DD in year 8 there.

I have also spoken to people with DC at Darrick Wood, and have not heard bad reports, and it does have very results.

I would've thought your choice would be constrained by how close you lived to either school.

My daughters been at private school since 3 years old at croydon high but it's way too much money now to commit for another 6 years so I really prefer another all girls school and the only one I know is newstead which we live about 5 mins away and although she is sitting the test for there it will be a miracle if she gets in they need really high results , so I just need another all girls school a nice one where she can still achieve , so much appreciated .

Definitely not Darrick Wood. Gone downhill since becoming an academy.

The woman I spoke to about Beaverwood said they have a grammar stream that her DD got into. She is very happy with the school, and I suspect her DD may have been at a private primary, because I know her younger DS is at one.

Would you get Beaverwood from where you are? It's very popular with girls from Sidcup, as it's a proper comprehensive, not a secondary modern, like the Bexley "non-grammars". You would surely get Darrick Wood, if you are that close to Newstead?

One of the people I know with DC at Darrick Wood is a teacher at Newstead. She said her DD knew she had messed up the test on the day, but she was not madly disappointed, and thought it perhaps better for her DD not to go to the school she was teaching in. Pity about the horrible uniform!

I went to Newstead, and I wouldn't recommend it to girls that scrape in. It would be better to succeed at another school.
I did have a relative who worked at Darrick, and she wasn't too happy there.

Thank you for the feedback , I actually live on the road of darrick wood but something makes me feel uncomfortable with it plus the fact she is used to all girls , I really appreciate all the comments and feel that beaverwood would be the best option and although I think we are out of the catchment area they have been taking children from orpington over the last 3 years

I have a DD in both Beaverwood and Newstead.

Both of them appear to be thriving, are exceeding their targets and more importantly enjoying school.

Both schools have been very easy to contact, and both have shown excellent pastoral care too.

Any questions, feel free to PM me.
