Does anyone have personal experience of Abbotsholme School? Considering it for 6th Form boarding. Looks perfect on paper and hoping to visit soon.

My friends children went there and they really enjoyed it. They did very well while there too. Its not too big and many of the children I met at birthday parties etc were really lovely to talk to and very confident. Its rated very highly in the village and further afield too although most of the children I met lived in the nearby town rather than boarded.

Im sure as you have looked into the school already you will know whether its suitable for your children/child in the main but if theres anything you havent been able to find out make sure you make a note of it and ask when you visit.

My daughter has just entered her second year at Abbotsholme. She is in year 8 and is a weekly boarder. We are not a well off family and she receives financial support from the school although I do still have to pay some fees... Which nearly cripple me every month. It is 100% worth it though. She loves school and as such is getting straight A's. She complained of being school sick all summer and was so excited to go back on the first day of term.

The staff are very helpful and considerate. The class sizes are small enough for both the more and less able students to receive the extra time that they need to reach their full potential. The outdoor education and many many extra curricular activities helps to build strong, confident and well rounded young people and as such, they are given a lot of freedom to develop their own opinions, likes, hobbies etc.

They support her in her riding and enter her and her friends in team competitions. They take her away on activity weekends at least twice a year. They have fantastic sporting facilities, a farm, climbing wall, livery yard and a new huge synthetic sports pitch. There is always something foe everyone to get involved with, wether you like foot ball, helping sheep to give birth or building electric cars. In fact, the worst thing about the school is that there isn't enough time in the day for the kids to take part in everything that's on offer!

I couldn't imagine my daughter without Abbotsholme and would highly recommend it to anyone.
