DS1 struggling in state school year 7, thinking of moving for year 8.

He has mild ASD, increasingly anxious. Needs a more nuturing, understanding environment. Going to see them next Monday.
I know some parents with kids there so have a very positive feeling about the school.

Really my main concern is about the academics. My son is bright, not sure how bright because at the moment stuck in the top of the middle sets. I am not a snob about academics, education is about so much more. But I do need to make sure that they are set up for brighter kids and there are enough of a peer group for him to interact with.

Any stories / thoughts much appreciated.

A pupil I used to teach is in yr 10 there and loving it, he is at least average academically and has no issues with not being stretched, but he does fit in much better than the state school he went to for a year after us, where he was getting bullied (has ASD symptoms).

Don't know much and no personal experience but I know it does have a great reputation locally and great for ASD boys. Good luck.
