Post Y12 Summer Work Experience CV

Help, need to chivvy DD into sending out a new-improved CV in last ditch attempt to get some work experience under her belt this summer. (she is going to be away too much to get a summer job but could get a couple of weeks work experience under her belt if she pulls her finger out)

Have been rooting round on the web tonight looking for suitable CV templates but it would be great if anyone could link to a good one their DC have already used please? She thinks that because she did two weeks work experience last summer that will be enough for her UCAS form but I don't think she can rest on her laurels!

Well, none of the teens I know - including all those at University, so obviously their CVs were acceptable - did work experience at the end of Yr12.
I actually think that getting paid work is lovely, but not essential (for a CV, obviously depends on circumstances as to if it is financially or not), and that 'work experience' has only a certain amount of value to your CV. Experience of actually turning up to a job and sticking with it over time says a lot more IMO.

I'd second the comments above.

I'm admissions tutor for social science courses, and I would be more impressed by an applicant who had read widely than had a couple of extra weeks work experience (and many other things like DofE).

In fact, a short discussion of a relevant text they have read (not just a list of titles) always puts applicants to the top of the pile. It says so much more than the 'I want to study x because.......'

But this will vary from subject to subject
