Maths and English books

My son, who has just turned 13, is having some difficulties with maths and English. He is in year 1 of secondary school in Scotland. Can anyone recommend any good books or websites which provide practice material in these subjects for 12 ? 13 year olds?

We've used these CGP Books and found them useful. We're in England, though. Does Scotland cover the same curriculum?

How about BBC bitesize websites? You would need to be looking at the KS3 sections (or if necessary drop down to KS2).
