Hello everyone, I would like to hear feedback from parents who sent their children to reception at Sir Richard Reynolds school. Are you happy with your choice? We have recently visited school and really liked it, but it would be great to hear from real experience.
Hi my daughter is starting reception in sept anyone else's child attending this school ?
Glad to hear you're happy with your offer twicksa. It will be interesting and exciting for your DC being at a brand-new school, and there will be a lot of concentrated attention going into making it succeed. Good luck with it all!
Hi BayJay we put down Orleans and Syon Park on our form. Always a risk taking on a new school but the team there so far seems very good. Basically there are too many children for the amount of places in the borough which leads to this insane scramble. Anyway we have accepted the place so fingers crossed!!
You may also want to take into account if your DC has siblings that the admissions arrangements give priority to Catholic children and their siblings ahead of non Catholic children. Pressure on school places in the borough is going to increase, from 2014 a pupil bulge will come through from the primaries which have had to create bulge classes to accommodate it, and the Council will not be providing any additional school places until 2017, although there is a very well supported parent led local Free School proposal. The school was established to meet the desires of the 200 or so Catholic families who send their children to out of borough schools and it was anticipated that it will become exclusively Catholic. Clearly they have opted for those established out of borough schools this time but the diocese forecast that places in those out of borough schools will also become harder to access.
You will also be expected to contribute to the maintenance fund www.strichardreynolds.org.uk/about-the-college/governors-fund
As Bayjay says Richmond Schools are the subject of forensic scrutiny so do feel free to ask any questions and without a doubt you will get detailed answers
p.s. Sorry to bombard you with questions. I'm active in this other Mumsnet discussion where we analyse the Richmond Secondary School landscape to within an inch of its life!
Hello twicksa and Ted2012. Do you mind me asking approximately where you live? I'm curious as to where the St RR offers are stretching to in terms of distance.
Also, did you use all 6 of your preferences on your form? I'm interested in how many, and which, schools you missed out on, before being allocated St RR.
It would appear that a few people have been offered this school though they didn't include it in preferences, and not all are happy www.facebook.com/RichmondInclusiveSchools.
The Head has a good track record at Christs and I am sure that they will be pulling out all the stops to build a good reputation. I understand that generally the first intake of a school benefit from the increased focus and attention they receive. I gather RACC will remain in the more salubrious building at the front so the school will start up in buildings behind, whether these will be rebuilt or the existing rather dilapidated ones spruced up until the rebuild I don't know but plans shown off at the open day suggested the rebuild will be big and shiny. Senior Schools and Primary school will share the site which will be a tight fit but I think the plan is to use the amazing sports facility's at nearby St Mary's.
Thanks Ted2012 we are abroad so not able to see or meet anyone. If you have anymore info I would be grateful for your posts.
Hi we were also taken by surprise, as we did not apply for the new Sir Richard Reynolds school. We are not even catholic. We had a look today on the site and spoke to someone at the RACC. We are a bit more at ease. We didn't go to their open day and would like to see the school and their plans and know more about their curriculum. On their website they are vague what they will be offering. We hope we can have a meeting with the headteacher to know more about the school.
Hi all, can anyone tell me something about this school. We have been offered a place but are a bit worried about the school sharing the site until 2014. Thanks
