Hi
I am new to this, so sorry please bear with me. Am trying to make choices for son's secondary education. He has passed the 11 plus, and want to apply to maidstone grammar, however we live the other side of headcorn. Does anyone know if a school bus will take him there. Don't want to apply and get a place and not be able to get him there. There is a more local grammar but it is not as good.

Many thanks for any help you can give

My DD went to a school outside catchment and we have to pay for her bus to school (just over £800). It's a public bus as there is no school bus in our area.

Are you within catchment?

ask the school for the bus routes which serve them, expect to pay if it is not your local school

Hi I'm also in Kent and have a ds at a grammar and one at a comp.
Is the Maidstone grammar your nearest secondary school? Not nearest selective, just closest school?. If it is you are eligible for free travel.
If it is not your nearest school you won't get free travel... However....
For £100 a year you can buy a Kent freedom pass and use this towards the cost of travel to your selective school.
So in my sons case, the grammar he's at is not our nearest school, he travels on a dedicated coach to school. It cost us the freedom pass and about £75 a term. This will change again at 6th form and will be about £500
Find out who runs the transport and speak to them for more info

Oh and if your other grammar is NKS, that's where we are and it's fine.

I live in Kent and had similar questions about a grammar school for my daughter. I rang Arriva but also this website is good

Another option is using google maps and putting your home and MGS then selecting 'by bus'.

My daughter's school have details of buses serving it online. If not, give them a call or research online for routes between the two areas.
