hi, we are currently looking at the 3 above schools. Are well in catchment for the 1st two and 3rd would be a long shot. Done the open days, checked the stats etc but wondered if anyone had good/bad things in particular to say about these schools. Daughter currently in year 6 leaving independent sector which she has been in since year 2. Daughter is academic and sporty. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I am new to this so haven't got the shorthand sorted yet.............apologies

Assume you are not Catholic so no hope of SJB which would be a better option than either of the other two Woking ones? Obviously I don't know exactly where you live but do think that if you are well in catchment for the Woking schools, you will really struggle to have a hope of getting a place at GA.

Sadly not Catholic so no hope there. I know GA is pie in the sky.

The Head (executive) at GA says if you are prepared to appeal then its always worth applying. People have said this year has a very low birthrate, and last year people got in from a surprisingly long way away.
My DC at GA and I love it.
Friend of DD is at WC and seems to be doing fine.
Don't know that much about WH.

Neither winston Churchill or Woking high are particularly good Schools. Have you been on the Ofsted website and League tables. SJB is the only Good State school in Woking, Outstanding ofsted report and 92 % A-C (5) including english and Maths pass rate. They do take non-catholic's so you should consider applying. I think you should consider a private school for your daughter, especially as she is coming from the independent sector.

I don't know much about GA so I can't form a opinion. Gordons, in West end, Woking is the other second state school, it has outstanding ofsted and over 90 percent pass rate.

I hope this helps and highly recommend you dont send you children to woking high or winston churchill, they really take the runt from woking.

I would avoid Woking High. I've heard it's full of asbestos, even the ceiling tiles in some of the classrooms which the kids are alowed in on their own. The building isn't really fit to be a school.
