Oxfordshire secondary schools

We are trying to decide which secondary school to go for - options are likely to be Wheatley Park versus Lord Williams in Thame. Also considering Matthew Arnold and Cherwell. Particularly keen to hear experiences of "average" boys. Doing the rounds of open evenings but confusing. Thanks.

Where do you live, as that will have a bearing on what, realistically, your choices are. You have no chance of getting in Cherwell if not in catchment.

Sorry - thought the message had gone without an answer. We are open to moving house for the right school - so if Cherwell was our choice we would move into catchment.

Well, I would recommend visiting the schools NOT at the open evening. Go on a normal day and witness the normal running / behaviour of the school.

Personally from those schools, I would go for Lord William's.

Just going on some of the pupils I have met, I would have a look at Cheney in Headington.

Bear in mind the allocation is based on your address at the time of application you only have about a month to move if necessary. Are there siblings you would need to find primary school places for?
