Does AQA GCSE Maths Unit one cover the same topics as Edexcel unit one?

DD will be sitting doing her first GCSE Maths module in a couple of weeks. She has covered most of the Edexcel past papers in school. To help her revise further I was going to download some AQA past papersbut if they are completely different I won't.

Have you tried using Google to look at the syllabuses on the AQA and Edexcel website? The information should be there. If you have already tried this fair enough. I teach Edexcel maths but we do linear not modular. The Edexcel website is pretty good though so you should find what you need.

Thanks, I've looked at a couple of the AQA past papers and they look pretty similar. I just didn't want to print some off and DD find stuff she's not covered and have a major melt down. I didn't think to look at the syllabus for them both blush

Sounds a bit full-on to me; Does she want/need to do extra revision on top of what teachers are asking her to do?

Rather than download AQA papers, how about getting a CGP revision book, which have lots of practice questions?

The best way to find which is the most appropriate book to get, go to the CGP website, copy the ISBN, then paste into Amazon.

DD finds revising easier if she just does a past paper and looks up any thing she doesn't get in her Maths books. Having done several past papers in class and homework DD has realised that she could just scrap an A grade in this module - her official target is a C Grade. I was not going to stand over DD with a stop watch while she did it! DD herself asked for some more papers and on Edexcel you don't appear to be able to freely download hence my asking about AQA past papers being roughly the same.

I have had a look at the Edexcel specification here:

looking at the Higher syllabus for Unit 1 it is all Data Handling (cum freq, histograms, types of data, surveys, box plots, stem and leaf, probability etc)

Then I had a look at the AQA site. They are changing their modular specification but if you look back at old papers, they look fine. For example:

look perfect as practice.

Haunted, thank you so much. I'll take a look later.
