Am considering there for sixth form boarding, and know absolutely nothing about it other than what is in the Ofsted report and the website. Any info from people in the know would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me if you want to say anything that might be less than flattering on the thread without starting WW3. Wink

I thought it was a comp? (it may well be a new academy, but still a comp - no boarders I didnt think?

I live local to this school and my elder child is already there in the lower school.
Within Shropshire, TA has an excellent academic reputation through GSCE and A levels, and also offers more vocational subjects to sixth formers. Many transfer at 16 from other local schools, including those in the private sector!
The boarding house and cottages (for sixthformers) are well regarded and house about 65 students from all over the Uk and indeed the world.
Wem itself is a market town, not particularly glamorous but has the basics including a swimming pool, and the natives are friendly. What it does have, however, is a train station and regular trains run to Shrewsbury in one direction and Crewe (the central gateway to the UK) in the other! You can even get direct trains to London, Cardiff and Manchester.
Would I board my child there if I needed to work abroad? Yes!
