Thanks for the info Audacity I watched the session and found it very interesting.

I definitely agree that more information should come from scientists and think the message should be clear.

The Scottish government covid pages are a nightmare to find information on and my DH does it every day for his job and he struggles!

Also definitely agree with the call to set out levels and easing information clearly.

Yeah I agree - tons of information available but you've got to be super-engaged and pro-active to find it. The onus should be on the government to engage us, most people aren't going to engage themselves, especially if they're not pro the current party in government.

And I'd add "and checking it daily to see what they've shoved in quietly!"

Checking in to new thread with a question - what’s the plan for COP26, the global event due to be held in Glasgow in November?
Presumably the thousands of arrivals into Scotland for that will have to quarantine/or will not be permitted to travel across the unicorn border🧐?

Or can we take from the fact it is still going ahead (is it?) will we be free to party like it’s 2019, by say, October?

Oh that's such a relief to see new infections so down today. I knew yesterday's numbers seemed likely to be an anomaly, but you just never know.

Fingers crossed they continue to fall. It probably won't make much difference to actual timings out of Scottish lockdown- I get the sense those have been decided already- but it does mean I can start to hope again that my S3 may get back to school at some point.

Sorry if I've missed this. Can anyone explain if there's been cost, benefit analysis on Zero Covid? What will we need to do as a society for each option?
Schools in part time next winter? Hospitality outdoors only for the next year? No family from overseas can visit for how long? No overseas travel for 2 years? University all online for next year too? Everyone working from home for the next year or 2?
I expect timescales are very difficult because we'll be at the mercy of the rest of the world sorting themselves out, just as Aus and NZ are at moment.

I had kids presenting at it.

It's not taking place as originally planned

I've just seen this on the news feed from the briefing today:

"The first minister is asked by ITV Border’s Matty Sutton about the challenges faced by women who are running new businesses during the pandemic.
One woman has said she fears there has been a “complete regression” when it comes to women working while also acting as mums and carers.
Nicola Sturgeon says we should never be complacent about gender equality in the workplace. “Our task, starting with the government, is to do everything we can to make sure that regression that people may be worried about doesn’t become a reality.""

Maybe I'm just feeling a bit snippy today, but maybe one thing you could do is not keep children off school purely as a means to keep their parents in the house, as was eluded to by the FM. Yesterday, she acknowledged the risks (in primary anyway) weren't due to children in schools, but because parents might leave the house and socialise etc. if they didn't have small children to look after all day. The most tone deaf thing I've heard in quite a while.

Here's an idea, if you want to reduce the parents at the school gates let the bloody after school clubs operate! Pickup from them is staggered so doesn't have the hanging around for the bell issues.

Oh, and guess who makes up about 95% of the currently furloughed staff and owners? Women.

Whilst I want to say that I hope so I think it might be more of a pattern of when some of the local test centres are open.....

My LA is very low on certain days and then seems to jump but it corresponds with the days of local test centre openings!

I guess the daily figures do jump around but I'm pretty sure we're still on a downward trajectory in terms of 7 day moving average. This is as low as we've been since the first week in December.

In the same way that we tried not to panic at yesterday's jump, we shouldn't celebrate today's drop. The line is going in the right direction in general and NS seems to be becoming more positive. Still no sign of the pubs opening up though.
