I need a new hairstyle, but I want someone to tell me what would suit me rather than me tell them what I want. I have longish frizz-prone hair, so any recommendations for stylists specialising in middle aged women who’ve lost their mojo would be great. Money no object (within reason). Thanks.

I go to Cresswell & Co in Cresswell Lane - either Greg (one of the bosses) or Claire (Claire does the colour but she recently also done some of my cuts and I've been very messed with them and she's cheaper Wink).

In fact, you've reminded me that I need to make an appointment for a cut 'n' colour. Grin

I usually give them pretty much a free reign with what to do. When I first started going there (after Taylor Ferguson got far too expensive dh still doesn't know how much my last cut'n'colour there cost Shock) I got Greg just to do a trim initially until I had the confidence to go with their advice.

You've met me so you can decide for yourself if you liked my hair Wink

I would recommend Dawn Richardson of Tete a Tete in Bearsden.

Tracy at charlie callison in finnieston cuts my hair which has the texture of a horse's tail and is incredibly thick. I no longer look like crystle tips but have nice waves and she's great at giving honest advice.

Thank you all. @prettybird, you always look very well groomed. You’ve seen my mop - is there any hope for me? I’ll look into all three of these recommendations.

@daftweebun, a horses tail GrinThat’s exactly what mine is like!

I think either Claire or Greg would do wonders with your mop. I'd maybe advise going with Claire - I think the couple of cuts of she did were particularly good at my brief of "something funkier and less middle-aged" Wink - which she achieves with a combination of the colour and the cut. I also enjoy my chats with her Smile

I don't have wiry hair but I do have a hell of a lot of it and it's very fine and strong willed (grows forward and into my face - and I hate hair in my face Confused) Whenever I change hairdressers (which I don't like doing) they are always surprised at just how much of it there is.

FWIW - I think you have lovely hair although I can understand why you say it is frizz prone.

The disadvantage of Cresswell & Co is that it is opposite Nancy Smillie which can be expensive WinkBlush

Cresswell and co is great. If you’re looking for something a bit more central and less er pash, absolut is also fab and much less expensive

Helloflamingo - Cresswell & Co seems cheap to me compared to Taylor Fergusons (which I haven't been to for over 10 years) ShockWink

A cut'n'colour costs c£100 (colour is usually a combination of foils - "slices" Winkof red and blond and overall colour, but it grows out well as it is like an enhanced version of my own colour, so I don't need to get it done too often). That's less than Taylor charged for just a cut 10+ years ago Shock

Ha I’ve never been to Taylor Ferguson’s and doubt I ever will.
I paid £45 for a cut and blow dry on a wig at cresswells where they tried to upsell me false eyelashes. It irked me somewhat at the time.
Absolut is £35 for a cut and blow dry which is good for the city centre. It just depends where you’re near I guess.
I had my hair wig cut and coloured by Dylan at rainbow rooms FOC - I’m hoping one day I can afford to get my real hair cut there!

Another vote for Cresswell. Try their laminates too.

I go to Number 659 on Great Western Road. Stacie cuts and Kirsty colours. It costs £70 for both.
I had my hair done by Jane at Cresswell once a few years ago and it was great, but either she left or she was busy when I tried to get future appointments so gave up.

If you want a great hairdresser somewhere not at all posh, I’d recommend Craig Callaghan, 492 Tollcross Road ( near the park ).

07702 685 335

He used to work at Rainbow Room and has now set up on his own.
