somewhere nice and cosy for Xmas lunch with dh this december in Edinburgh?

we are going for the day, will get the train to waverley, and have a look at the xmas market, we arent great foodies, just want somewhere nice and xmassy for a wee bit of lunch, was thinking of The Bank I know it gets all done up, is there anywhere nice you all would recommend? love the castle as well and round about there, anywhere scottishy would be nice too preferably with a warm log fire going on!!

Juniper in the Royal British Hotel is lovely. It's opposite the Princes Mall. I believe their restaurant next door called Twenty is good too.

We have eaten at the Tower restaurant, sister restaurant of the Witchery and it was quite frankly awful and completely lacking in atmosphere. We are in Edinburgh for the weekend soon and also looking for somewhere decent to eat. Might consider the Witchery. Agree about the Dome, it looks lovely at this time of year too.

No unfortunately it is not possible to go to the Witchery just for a drink A it has no bar as such , just restaurant

Whighams wine cellars is cosy and does lovely food. DH and I loved it and we are taking our DDs there before going to the ballet just after Christmas.

The Whisky Society on Queen Street. You don't need to be a member anymore and the food in the restaurant and the bar are both fantastic.

Valvona & Crolla on Multrees walk is cosy/intimate, not too far from the ice rink at St Andrews Square, and a short hop from the high-end shops if that's your thing.

Anywhere on George Street will be gorgeous at this time of year. The bar at Le Monde has a roaring fire. For a tasty lunch you can't beat Chez Jules on Hanover Street. It's cosy mind, you'll be touching elbows with fellow diners.

What day are you going? We were there Thursday Friday and a lot of the eating / drinking places get very busy. There was a few we couldnt get a seat in so may be worth booking beforehand when you have picked somewhere.

Btw the Dome is beautiful inside and you may be able to get a drink but the christmas meal, ive had better.

The Devils Advocate in the old town is also great for a drink but I have never eaten there.
