Apparently the planned trip across the Forth and down the borders railway is off now so if anyone was planning to take the DCs for a look I'd make other plans for the day. Bet a lot of people will be disappointed.

I am very pissed off. Bought my dad tickets for his birthday, he was making a weekend of it, travelling through to Edinburgh today (lives in SW Scotland) ready for the big trip tomorrow.

Spoke to the company yesterday lunchtime to confirm times for him and all was still fine. Now Network Rail have cancelled it. Unbelievable.

DH and DDad are going to be disappointed - they were looking forward to seeing the train, although were a bit annoyed that no-one seemed to know what time it was coming through - timetable was under wraps because idiots kept standing on the line in front o the train to get photos.......... Pretty shoddy that NR hadn't done their homework, as there has been a lot of stuff planned in town around he visit.

A diesel is in no way as exciting as a steam train!

My friend has posted it from the borders this morning and it apparently went past the back of my house last night.

Great to see some photos Groovee. Was so crowded on the station platforms that we didn't get a good look. Once you are on the train, it could be any train really!

There were so many folk watching and waving from gardens, bridges, fields etc. the whole way there and back. A very special experience!

It's the only time in 15 years I've thought living on the railway line was good Grin
