Mobile broadband

We can't get fast internet as we're too rural, (think less than 0.5mbps) and I've heard bad things about problems with satellites.

Does anyone use EE home 4G mobile broadband? What's customer service like?
We're really struggling so we need to do something - my kids can't do half their homework, and I sometimes need to work from home which is proving impossible.

But I really don't want to sign up and find they're rubbish!

Don't use EE as we have no 3G/4G either - i.e. a real 'not-spot'.

Our solution has been to use a local point to point wi-fi solution from Secure Web Services (who serve South Shropshire). There are other similar providers who serve other rural areas of the country, such as Airband. If you search for 'Wireless Boradband' you may find a local supplier (ISPreview.co.uk lists 7 pages of such suppliers which is searchable by the area of the country they cover).

These have the advantage of being true broadband and most don't tend to have the data caps that 4G mobile contracts tend to have - which may be an issue if you want to stream films / TV / YouTube etc. to any extent.

My friend uses mobile broadband dongle from EE and swears by it.

You can find out when your postcode might be upgraded, and find out about the voucher scheme for satellite broadband etc, here-
