Septic Tanks

We have a holiday cottage with septic tank fitted by a previous owner 30 odd years ago. It doesn't seem to drain at all and we have to have it emptied regularly. Its a constant worry as we don't want guests being inconvenienced by the lack of conveniences should the system back up! We have had a company out to look at it. They charged us £450 for a percolation test, told us the drainage field had failed and that we needed a pump and raised drainage field. They then failed to turn up for any more appointments. We know the soil is mostly clay and its not going to be an easy fix . The drainage field is backed by a farmers field .
We are in Fife close to St Andrews. We'd be really grateful if anyone has any advice or experience of a reliable company that covers our area?

We had a different type of tank whoch was just emptied on a 3 monthly basis for £75 a time (shared by 5 houses so £15 per house). It might be cheaper to change to this type. I think it was a Klargester.
