Living in Thames Ditton

I have lived in TD for 26 years and have loved everything about it.
Proximity to the river and the sailing clubs, Richmond and Bushy Parks,my two children went through TD infant and junior schools where they were very happy. Later, one to grammar school ( very easy travelling) and one to Hinchley Wood.( good state comp)
Great sports clubs nearby, Kingston only just a mile away so easy to walk there, fast train from SUR iron to Waterloo if required.
Great community atmosphere....many village events, good library, good pubs......soon out to A3 and easy to get to Esher, Sandown race course and Cobham etc.
Very difficult to beat!

Hi, we’re hoping to move to Thames Ditton over the summer, also looking at East Molesey and maybe Hinchley Wood. Someone on another thread mentioned the aircraft noise, how did you find it?

I haven’t found aircraft noise a problem at all. I was very surprised to see that comment.

Twickenham and Richmond however, are on a direct flight path with aircraft flying at low levels and much noise.Aircraft are at very high levels over here and I have never been disturbed in anyway.

Just jumping on this thread re Thames Ditton. Are there any particular good/bad bits to be aware of? School catchment issues? It seems such a lovely area and ticking lots of boxes. Would love to know more so I can have it firmly on my wish list!

We are also looking at the area. I have heard that if you live round the Infant school you may not get Hinchley Wood Secondary these days, is that true?
