Moving out of London

We currently live on the border of Plumstead/Welling and are looking to move further out into Kent. We have family in Welling so don’t want to be more than a 30 minutes drive from Welling and DH works in London so need good transport links.

We found a lovely house on the outskirts of Swanley, closer to Hextable. What is the area like? Is there any other places we should be considering?

This is very strange, we are moving from selling/Plumstead and moving out into Kent. Also looked at a lovely house in swanley but discounted it eventually as we would both be driving and the swanley interchange is awful.
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of house do you want and what's your rough budget?

Our budget is £425k. Looking for something we can move straight into and has the potential to extend in the future. The house we looked at near Swanley was a little less but be could extend as soon as we moved. Where else are you looking?

I work in Dartford so we were looking at the surrounding villages as a wanted something rural. DH plans to drive to a further away station so we weren't restricted to towns with stations.
If you're not looking for something rural, Dartford itself has very good transport links, a reasonable variety of housing stock and good access to welling via the a2 and I think trains too. Also has excellent schools if you need them.

Is the house you are looking at in swanley or swanley village? As they are considered very different. There have been issues with gypsies in swanley I think - I quite often see it on local fb groups etc but I don't know how reliable that is...

Looking for more rural living and close to good schools as well as we have a newborn.

House is on Swanley Lane so comes under Swanley.

Dartford and Gravesend both have good grammar schools and take from the surrounding villages so might be worth having a look around there. I'm afraid I don't know much about primaries.
We were looking at Wilmington, Longfield, new barn, south Darenth, Horton Kirby, shorne. Meaophan and eynesford are nice but not so good for transport. There are houses near Dartford Heath that have a rural feel which being pretty close to the town center and station.

*meopham. Not sure what happened there!!

My family were all a bit Hmm when we were looking in swanley village because of the big gypsy camp nearby and there have been lots of reports of other large groups coming to the area and causing trouble but as I say I'm not sure how much of an issue it really is. We were really tempted by the house we found and only really let it go because we found something elsewhere that has better transport links for what we needed.

Hi, I know this is old but it's uncanny because I'm moving from Plumetead and looking into Hextable or Sutton at hone.

How did the move go? Do you like where you are now?
