I have a sil who is identical in age to me, went to same university at same time and has similar interests to me. However she is completely uninterested in me often to the point of being rude. Her children are now beginning to copy her and extend that same "friendliness".. not.. to my kids. Can take it for myself but cannot bear to see my kids treated badly. Only problem is her husband who is very nice is dh's only family member. Any tips?

what's so funny suzy?

Tarzanna... no experience i'm afraid. I would just carry on being civil to her and avoid her as much as possible!

I don't see her much but yes, she can be a bit abrasive but has a heart of gold.

Well, none of her own family like her, been lots of funny carry-ons lately! Think she has mental probs.

I wish I had one. I only have BILs. With three sons too, I'm drowning in testosterone. Thank God for Mumsnet!

I only have one SIL - she is my BIL's wife. She's a year or so younger than me, and Australian. They have no children of their own, but plan to have a family in the future. She's fab

suzy why are you saying this?

tarz, i dont like mine, but i try and get on with her for a peaceful life. just be polite and say hello, but dont upset yourself by spending time not required in her company.

you can choose your friends, not your family!

as long as you are nice she has nothing to complain about

No, mine is a silly cow. Don't kn ow what her problem is but she totally ignored me at the last big family wedding. I've never done anything to her, never had a chance, she's always been odd with me, never chatted to me. She's just plain rude, although, so far, ne ver to Lottie or I'd have her guts for garters.

I sent her an email once to update her and my BIL on Lottie and inc a photo. I got an email back that started 'Two things. Please don't send photos anymore or system can't handle it.' and then went on about xmas and how it sounded like we had our plans sorted and she took it that she wouldn't be seeing our PIL. I understand that some peoples PCs are slow to download pics so fair enough but there is a way of saying things. There was no 'dear TC', no niceeties. So I replied in exactly the same style 'Two things. Sorry about the photos, it won't happen again. As for Xmas, no idea what PIL are doing, I'm sure they hace plans to see you, best you speak with them'. And since then we haven't spoken so .... good riddance to the silly cow,

Daren't say too much for fear of repercussions, but everytime my partner is ill, (is recovering from cancer), she goes off sick with severe symptoms. Lots of other things, which I couldn't say publicly. S x (she's good with my daughter though!)

I have one SIL whom i cannot stand at all!! She's DH's only sister. But I have 3 SIL's who are married to my brothers and they are ALL lovely!

Dh's sister has not spoken to me since I give birth to DS 8 months ago. She came to hosp with a gift.... held DS and walked out... her loss. She now has moved in with PIL whilst her house is getting fixed and she is about 40 footsteps away...never visits either... but tbh if she rang my doorbell id be VERY tempted to tell her to eff off.

i smile politley and pretend to like them - its the falsest you will ever see me. ones a stoner, thick as shit, ignorant and no sense of when to say and when not to say things.

the other is indiscribable. this huge big bosomed woman has had two kids by my bil. she has an older one when she came into the relationship. she gets my MIl to mind her kids whilst she works at a pub. Mil gets paid for watching the kids. she gets a taxi to the pub becuase she is too fking bone idle to get the bus. then she works lock ins until 3am and has recently admitted fking one of the regulers. however my mil still speaks to her as does my other sil.

and if i mouth off i will drop myself int he shit - its very very very strange.
so smile and nod a lot.
