My mum lying about me

PringleMunster · 05/09/2009 18:25

I'm really annoyed and confused.

My mum phoned me this morning and we had a chat, everything normal...and then I said "I might go and see grandma on Monday"

So my mum went a bit quiet and then said "Oh...err...I think you might be in the bad books with grandma"

So I'm thinking "why, what the hell have I possibly done??"

and my mum continued...

"I got mixed up yesterday, I was upset about my council tax bill and we were talking and I just said 'pringlemunster said your house looks better now, not like the shit-hole it was before' ... I know you didn't say that but it just came out"

WTF???

She then said "don't worry about it, she laughed, I don't think she's upset or anything, she just said 'Pringlemunster can talk, her house is constantly a shithole"

I'm really annoyed and quite upset. Now, not only will it be going around my family that I called my grandma's house a shit-hole, but I've now been told that my house is a shit-hole and I've done fuck all to anyone else.

Why the hell would you just make something like that up??

She could tell I was annoyed and she said "Don't mention it to her and she might forget. I don't really want it bringing up tbh, I can be doing without people ringing me up saying I've been making stuff up"

but she has!!! yet I'm supposed to just keep quiet to avoid upsetting her?

It's not the first time she's done something like this TBH but this time I'm fuming.

Don't blame you!
You should tell your gran that it isn't true.
Why on earth would someone do this?

PringleMunster · 05/09/2009 18:32

God knows. My grandma knows what she's like, a few months ago my mum told my grandad that my grandma's husband hit her. It wasn't true and my grandad obviously asked my grandma about it. So, my grandma asked my mum and my mum swore she'd never said anything like that.

However, my grandma said to me "it's obvious she said it, I know what she's like"

But this time, my grandma genuinly thinks I did say it.

I will tell her when I see her but I'm just so annoyed.

If she didn't want it bringing up again, then she shouldn't tell such bare faced lies.

Definitely tell your Gran. I'm sure she didn't mean it about your house being a shit hole, she was probably just being on the defensive.

diddl · 05/09/2009 19:01

Is your Mum ill?
What has council tax/getting mixed got to do with telling an outright lie?

BadgersBait · 05/09/2009 19:02

Omg, how nasty! tell your nan that your mothers a bare faced liar! Does your mum usually do odd things like that?

BadgersBait · 05/09/2009 19:05

Sorry, your last sentence said she had done things like this before, if i were you i would have a word with your nan about it, i had a grandmother i didnt see for 16 years, and when i finally met her she was the biggest liar going, i only ended up knowing her for 3 months before i decided to never speak or see her again.

cherryblossoms · 05/09/2009 19:13

I'm wondering if she's ill, too. It's certainly unusual behaviour. But I would agree with the others about getting in touch with your gran and getting it sorted.

And I wouldn't worry about what she said about your house. I'm sure that was a shock response.

LoveBeingAMummy · 06/09/2009 07:34

Was it her own council tax bill? was she trying to change the su bject for some reasn?

Supercherry · 06/09/2009 08:08

Shocking. I would certainly tell your gran that you said no such thing. It is quite likely that you gran also said no such thing about your house given the circumstances.

LoveBeingAMummy · 06/09/2009 08:09

good one cherry didn't hink o fthat, its one way to try and make sure you don't bring it up!
