What do you imagine your ex-boyfriend(s) are doing now?

I had a moment of catharsis yesterday and it really helped me. I am with love-of-my-life DH, but I had a relationship years before I met him that really hurt me.

I hardly ever think about the ex, but yesterday for some reason I thought, I wonder what X is doing now? I had heard he got married some years ago, but nothing since. Well, the thought that came into my head straight away was: he has messed up his marriage too, they have split up after a series of horrible fights, and now he is a bitter part-time dad with anger issues.

Is it horrible of me to think this? shock The problem is, the more I imagine that scenario, the more I am convinced that it is quite likely to have happened. I have no contact with him and really don't want to know whether it's true. But it made me feel better just thinking, I made the right decision to split from him when I did.

Do others imagine similar outcomes for ex-boyfriends? Or is it just me?

mine is probably pissed.

FabBakerGirlIsBack Sat 29-Aug-09 17:17:15

Mine is a manager (planner)

MadameCastafiore Sat 29-Aug-09 17:18:45

One of mine - 1st real love - is a solicitor - a partner no less and he is still very young!

Googled him and found a photo and he has turned into his father and has hardly any hair left so bit of luck that one didn't work out!

Just wondering if any exes mentioned turn out to be a MNers DH.

terracehouse Sat 29-Aug-09 17:21:09

Ooh, one of mine too, MadameC.
Yours isn't from Cambridgeshire by any chance?!

Ponymum Sat 29-Aug-09 17:25:11

FabBakerGirl No, not possible. All MNers have lovely DHs, and all our exes are total shite!

TheCrackFox Sat 29-Aug-09 17:26:00

I have been with DH for 14 yrs and I can honestly say I hope my ex is happy. I very rarely think about him at all.

mrsboogie Sat 29-Aug-09 17:26:41

mine will be pissed and probably into serious liver damage territory

he loved the drink more than anything so I'm sure they've been very happy together over the years...

Mine is dh's ex best friend-for obvious reasonsblush but he's a Dad to 1 and been in a on/off relationship for the last 7 years-hope he is happy though.

MadameCastafiore Sat 29-Aug-09 17:36:31

Noo he isn't - thinks he lives in Essex!

madameDefarge Sat 29-Aug-09 17:39:58

MC, male pattern baldness comes through the mother I believe!

My first love is living in Paris with his P and dss. Not totally happily I think, but he is sticking with it for all the right reasons.

We are still devoted to each other, but in a nice zen way.

Two of mine are dead! One is retired after making loads of dosh founding a phamaceuticals business, one is a farmer and very grey haired. One is European director of a large ad agency. the other 34 or so I really don't know about at all.

FabBakerGirlIsBack Sat 29-Aug-09 20:19:18

34?????????

grin

SammyK Sat 29-Aug-09 20:25:12

Mine emailed me through his wife's facebook account the other day to apologise for being a knob (calling me a stupid o clock over and over again years after we split) and hoping we can become 'friends'. Have been with DP nearly nine years so probably 10 yrs+ since I split with this ex. Have concluded my ex is still a tad unstable. hmm

Other exes not sure about but wish them well. If I was pondering I would hope they had a nice partner and little family like me. smile

weegiemum Sat 29-Aug-09 20:25:14

I only have 2 exs

The first is now an outrageously camp retauranteur! He figured out he was gay while going out with me (not entirely sure if this is a Good Thing)

The second - have no idea and no interest in knowing!

Occasionally meet up with ex *1 (along with my dh and 3 dcs) for food - he really is a faaaaabulous chef, daahhhhhling!

mrswill Sat 29-Aug-09 20:27:41

I always wondered about mine - mainly as he lived on the edge, was very cool, and i was always slightly in awe/intimidated by him. I thought he'd bugger off to ibiza to DJ.

Needless to say, he contacted me a couple of years ago though fb, for me to find he was twice the size, with a lot less hair and was in medical sales. Real life caught up!!

mrswill Sat 29-Aug-09 20:32:02

Yes, i have a gay ex, who im still friendly with. He seemed really upset when we finished too! he now tells me of all the boys he fancied in our group when we were still together....

MrsSeanBean Sat 29-Aug-09 20:32:24

I imagine ex no 1 is still single and living a playboy lifestyle, playing golf and with several girls on the go.

Ex no 2 would probably have married one of his none-too-smart dental nurses (not denigrating the profession in general btw!) which lasted about 18 months.

In my imagination anyway!

BitOfFun Sat 29-Aug-09 20:33:05

At least one of mine is now gay, and one is on remand charged with rape and battery shock- he was the nicest guy you could ever meet (but had a tiny weiner). Ishoos I'm glad I bodyswerved after a few dates...

weegiemum Sat 29-Aug-09 20:33:33

If only all exs were gay!

Gay exs are faaaaaaab!

mrswill Sat 29-Aug-09 20:36:46

My gay ex is super fab. He now lives in london and tell me all about the celebrities hes pulled. One was in BB and very much into domination stuff so ive been told. The best ex's are gay ones!

weegiemum Sat 29-Aug-09 20:38:08

My gay ex is in London as well - he comes to our house and cooks for us when he is up in Scotland to visit family etc.

the best kind of ex, I reckon!
