Sounds petty and pathetic but it really makes me see red

This is obviously MY problem, I know that but I need to know if anyone else has ever seen red over something so small, does it mean we're heading down a slippery slope?

Its basically the fact that DP pronounces things wrong ALL THE TIME. He says "Sumfink" instead of "something" for instance which just makes me cringe.

The other day we were in the supermarket and he said "I fancy Fajitas for tea" (he actually pronounced it "fajitas" instead of Fa hee tas iyswim?

I've told him so many times how to pronounce it, it just winds me up and makes me think he does it on purpose. I told him "you mean fa he tas?" and he said "yeah, I always say that wrong don't I?" and he picked up the packet thing and said "right, so we have faJitas, what else do we need?"

It does sound petty, I know (hence the name-change) but it drives me ffing nuts. It makes him sound so thick.

Another one is Squidward from spongebob, DP INSISTS on calling it Squidworth. Over and over again, no matter how many times he is told by the kids that its wrong.

The band Evanescence he constantly calls "Evervesence"

It's just everything, all the time. Does he do it on purpose? It's got to the point where I can't contain myself from correcting him all the time which I know makes me look and sound like a complete twat but if the kids can speak properly, why can't he??

He sounds like Supernanny - I cannot bear her dimness in how she says some things!

I suppose you need to get over it.

DH is italian and he says Tou-sand instead of THous-and and it drives me nuts as the children say it that way too now! I keep correcting him though!!

Forgetting - Hun I know what you mean babe, my DP has dyslexia (well that's another thread rant totally, cause there's things that have come out about that) but because he's never had help with his reading or anyone to take the time to correct him he's been walking around sounding like a dick for years!!! But after 3yrs he's opening up about his capabilities and we get there eventually but there's other things that just won't go!!!! Not through a lack of trying, but they just won't go....so I have to let them slide.

But it does annoy me sometimes and usually when it's half 8 at night and I've been up since 6, had 1 cuppa all day and he's asking what's for dinna cock!? "Well, whatever you're going to cook you ffing twat!!!!!!!!! Can't you see I'm too busy and too tired"

The girl who sits next to me at work - an otherwise bright, well educated woman - insists on pronouncing the word 'specific' as 'pacific'. It drives me absolutely mad. YANBU.

However, I find I grind my teeth or clamp my jaw shut when I'm that pissed off so I'm assuming this may cause a little discomfort to Forgettin's DP

I sympathise. My work mate thinks there is a 'g' in Sandwiches! Drives me nuts.

Oh dear, I get it from DMIL and DH who are both dyslexic....

I think it is because they don't 'see' the word when they say it. I can visualise how it is spelt and then kind of pronounce it PROPERLY.

I agree though that it can make DH sound a little bit when he says 'pacific' for specific. MIL's classic was 'canapps' for canapes. I do manage to have a titter though when she tries to pronounce something unusual with no idea how bad it is or even better tries some French. She thinks she is fab at French but...well....

DH trying to learn Italian but strangely has managed to pick up Spanish instead ie, grazias for grazie, buonas nochas for bounanotte (sp apologies, no dictionary)

I personally believe that the way you accept or don't accept your partners faults is how you really feel about them...I have personal experience of this very thing.

Ds's father never ever pronounced his T H's. It was always fing, fink, fought(or probably 'fort' in his case)anyway, it wound me up so much that I corrected him often(whilst biting my tongue)and he got annoyed at me every time. It made me realise that I couldn't continue my life with him, though there was much more that contributed to our demise as a couple.

Dd's father started off speaking as I do(I assume to impress me)and slowly lapsed into finking...Because I truly love him, I feel it didn't matter(no longer together), nor did his fat belly or tremendous snoring. I think if you really love someone, these things wont/don't matter. Perhaps you need to analyse your true feelings toward your Dp?

Solo I think you're taking this all a bit seriously.

OP I totally see where you're coming from.

My DH is I think an undiagnosed dyslexic. He had problems at school that weren't dealt with (IMO) and so to this day he says "fing", "fink", "sumfing". Uses the wrong words, uses words where I know he isn't sure of the meaning. To be honest it's majorly irritating and embarrassing! But do I still love him - hell yeah! Loving someone doesn't mean that you like absolutely everything about them.

Can't be bothered correcting DH now though - if he doesn't get it now, he never will! Maybe you should just let it go hun? But I feel your pain.

If the OP is a troll, it's mildly amusing, if not and it's genuine then your DP is certainly winding you up and it sounds like you deserve it to be honest.

Njmomof1, your posts are offensive, being dyslexic is not something to mock and sneer at, furthermore, with that line 'Hun I know what you mean babe' I think you ought to look in the mirror before accusing your DP of sounding 'like a dick'.

Supercherry - i'm not mocking the condition at all....completely the opposite actually, it's just not referred to as a big serious thing in our household and my DP makes the jokes about himself...if my comments have offended then i hope this explains the language used by me about it, i truely don't use it to comment on other peoples situations just from the view of my own.
