I had PND I took the pills and they helped me get through.
If you broke a leg would you refuse a crutch? Just think of AD's as a crutch that can help you for a while.

Medication saved my life, but I did have some (privately funded) CBT too. All better now.

Hugs.

Take the pills, its a physical condition that needs medication.
Its not permenant, just a temporary 'blip' that an awful lot of women experience.

I don't mean to make the condition small by describing it as a 'temporary blip', just felt this may be more appropriate to the op.

Another one for the tablets. They do work, honestly.

I had PND really bad after DS1, and along with tablets, I had a picture of him smiling one of his first smiles framed, and put it somewhere where I could look at it when I was having a low moment.Sort of a "he can smile and doesn't cry all the time" kind of visual aid.

another one here all for tablets.

I had it when I had dd, while expecting ds and then after I had ds and took ad's (apart from when expecting ds). When expetcing ds as I didn't have ad's I sought counselling which helped for those pregnancy months BUT imo the ad's were much better. Quicker results, cheaper and less tears .

I was lucky in that my dh was and still is v supportive. He was the one who recognised the pnd each time and who supported me esp with the counselling (im a sahm and he suggested/paid for private conselling).

There were times when I thought I would never get better and had tough times when ds was v ill (born with a bowel disorder) but I came through it all smiling.

Remember that depression is an illness and don't make any rash descision (wanting a split, to walk away from the dk's etc..)as you are ill.

Running will help and is a good start. Will help to clear your head and to keep you active but give yourself a few weeks for improvment..if nothing then please seek further help.

Good luck and {{{hugs}}} from fellow pnd sufferor. You will be smiling and sunshiny inside I promise xx

Take the pills, they are amazing. I was very apprehensive about taking them, but they really have worked - I started to feel better within 2/3 weeks.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon

I had it, I felt like the world had crashed in on me. I was prescribed pills and after a fortnight I was a different person. I've been on them for 16 months now and am just coming off them. I would take them again in a flash if I needed to.

The biggest step was admitting to the go that I needed help, and you've done that. So well done

I had PND after having Dd2. I found that getting out, even once a day, for a walk helped. Fresh air can be therapeutic as well as pills. I had pills, walking and counselling. By the time Dd2 was 1 I was off the meds

Pills definitely. I thought my world had crashed and my life was over but after 6 weeks of ADs I felt so much better. I also went out for a walk everyday, had counselling from the Community Psychiatric Nurse from the Mother and Baby Unit and got as much support as possible from everyone I could. This is a condition that needs treatment and a combination of drugs, therapy and support works best. It really does get better. Each day will be an improvement with the odd blip here and there but they will get less and less until you are back to your old self. Hang in there and come back here for support. Lots of us have been through it an come out the other end. Good luck!
