DP left his profile on and I've just been on to find various search terms in the google history. These included "kid sex" and "kids having intercourse"

Has he definately searched for this stuff? I need to know before I confront.

Someone plugged in those search terms. That's very concerning...

Sounds like it to me.

What do you think he has searched for with those phrases in the history?

If this is for real, call the police.

I have found porn before but nothing involving kids.

have to go now but will be back later. thanks.

I'd avoid jumping to firm colnclusions yet

How old are your children?

If they are older it could be that he has concerns onhow to talk about the issue with them.

if those phrases are coming up, sounds like someone has deleted the browsing history, but maybe not the cache/cookies. if you need to delve further, the cookies list may give some more details of any web pages viewed.

Are you sure it's in the history and not the Google suggestions that come up when you type something in? (A bit of a long shot, and of course that would be incredibly alarming in itself. Google shouldn't be suggesting child porn).

Have you checked your browser history to see what things he's actually looked at? Obviously don't click on anything, but just to see a list of URLs and stuff.

If he has clicked on anything, he has committed a crime and you have a duty to report him.

I would be very very concerned if I found a google search history with that in it. I would be horrified and tbh, be suspecting the worse. I dont think you can accidently google sick stuff like that.

Before you confront him, ask yourself what you think anyone would say if questioned about this on their puter?

I doubt he will admit to it being one of his fave searches (even if it is) and so I really dont know if I would bother to confront and perhaps consider passing the computer over to the police or some experts to look at.

You also have to seriously consider any children he is in contact with. I know its not nice to think the worse but you cannot ignore what you have found.

I sincerely hope its all innocent but am well puzzled as to how on earth it could be TBH.

Sorry I cannot be more postive for you. It must be bloody awful to find something like this. Hope you're ok.

gagamama, i wondered that too but just tried it by typing in 'kid s', 'kid sex' was not one of the suggestions.

GypsyMoth · 29/06/2009 16:52

Op....... I think you know exactly what this means. And you know what to do about it......confront and report.

posieparker · 29/06/2009 16:59

I did the same as lucykate, again kids and sex did not come up. I would think Google would steer clear of any such suggestions.

Before you confront I would call the Police or something to get advice. Whilst this is about your DH this is far more serious than what it may mean for your relationship.

Is there anyone else who may have used your PC?

AnyFucker · 29/06/2009 16:59

not excusing this, but "kid sex" is quite an unusual combination of words for a search

surely "child sex" or "child pornography" would give you more, err, relevant sites/images

I don't know what the explanation for anybody to search those words, but it doesn't add up to me

do a full search of sites visited, and if there is anything along those lines, report the fucker

I agree with that.

kids having intercourse?? hmmm... is that the type of phrase a seasoned porn downloader would use? seems a bit "unpervy". Could be wrong of course, I wouldn't really know.

You could always wait 'til he'd gone to work, throw a cup of water over it and bring it into PC World. If there is anything dodgy on it the matter will be taken out of your hands...

Yes there are more specific terms Paedophiles use when looking for this. I wont go into them

This is either a teenager or a newbie

Call the plice for advice!

I can't believe people are assessing whether or not this man is likely to be a 'paedophile' based on such little info as search terminology! As for the terminology used by 'seasoned peadophiles'...they all have to start somewhere!

Not even the most highly qualified professional would be able to deliver that that kind of opinion based on absolutely no information on the man involved. More to the point, I'd hope a professional wouldn't attempt a pop' 'diagnosis' based on such.

namechanged, no-one here is in a position to offer up 'remote' diagnoses, it's impossible and I know this wasn't what you were asking for anyway.

Yes, it would seem that he's performed the searches you mentioned. If he has gone no further, a stern warning will probably be all that comes of it and this may well do him and vulnerables a favour. If he has gone further, he needs pulling up.

...from the perspective of someone who has found (slightly different scenario) and has reported.

Re my earlier post, I meant to add, only you know the context of this situation. I'm assuming you've found no rational justification of this search, which is why you're posting?

to the op, i haven't read whole thread, so apologies if this has alread been said.

Google have recently introduced this suggestions thing.
so, whatever you start typing in the box, a drop down list will appear of the most commonly searched for things.

I have just switched safe search off of google. then I put in "kids having" and one of the options it came up with is "kids having sexual intercourse"

This is NOT your husband. it is google. check your preferences and set it to filter your searches and this won't happen again

flatcapandpearls · 29/06/2009 21:30

I can't believe google would let this happen. This is quite worrying for people who work with children. I am assuming this could not happen on my school laptop, as if this appeared on my history I would be sacked with no questions asked,

Funny the OP hasn't been back.

Report
thisisyesterday · 29/06/2009 21:34

it isn't in the history. it's an auto-suggest list that comes up automatically.

I am assuming this is what the OP means.

if it is in the actual history then it could be more sinister.

OP- if you are still there, dp says he can look at yours remotely if you'd like him to, and see if your dp has actually been searching those terms.
