.....withdrawal that is if you see what i mean. Slightly worried as period is a little late. Dh claims he knew exactly what he was doing but is it possible to get pregnant before they actually you know what. Don't want any more kids but i think he secretly would have liked more.... help???

my mate swore by withdrawl she now has 2 kids enough said

paolosgirl Mon 18-Apr-05 21:20:17

Well, if we have, I think it might just be OK to have it again.
I'll watch this thread with interest - we're in the same situation

snafu Mon 18-Apr-05 21:20:27

I have a small, noisy, messy person in the next room that can prove it isn't safe, iykwim...

curiousandscared Mon 18-Apr-05 21:20:49

have we? any idea what the thread was called

WideWebWitch Mon 18-Apr-05 21:22:05

withdrawal is a shite method of contraception, didn't they teach you that at school? So yes, you could very easily be pregnant.

curiousandscared Mon 18-Apr-05 21:22:28

paolosgirl indeed, you would think at 40 i would know these things

sparklymieow Mon 18-Apr-05 21:22:58

mmmmmm, it not foolproof is it?? I don't have an exampl of withdrawal but I have a silly throwaway night example...

NomDePlume Mon 18-Apr-05 21:23:11

DH and I have used withdrawal for the past 2.5 years with no accidents. It is the least relaible form of contraception though.

The difference is that although we weren't planning more children, it wouldn't have been bad news if I'd have gotten pregnant, whereas you say that you don't want anymore kids, so I do think you need to find a more permanent or reliable form of contraception.

ok sorry if TMI but I always thought men 'leaked' a bit before they fully 'came' which would make it unsafe.

sparklymieow Mon 18-Apr-05 21:24:40

was it the only time you did it like this??

Gobbledigook Mon 18-Apr-05 21:24:49

I am living proof it don't work

paolosgirl Mon 18-Apr-05 21:24:50

I'm 'only' 36 - can't really be expected to know these things at my age! More

NomDePlume Mon 18-Apr-05 21:25:20

pre-ejaculate. Yup

curiousandscared Mon 18-Apr-05 21:28:03

sparkly it is the 2nd time actually and it did work the 1st, but saying that i got pregnant taking the pill with dd1 oh dear

sparklymieow Mon 18-Apr-05 21:31:10

how late are you?? I would do a test...

curiousandscared Mon 18-Apr-05 21:41:52

2 days

curiousandscared Mon 18-Apr-05 21:42:22

think i will get one tomorrow

mummytosteven Wed 20-Apr-05 10:30:28

think it's about 75% effective - so better than nothing, but not safe enough to rely on for family planning!

pinkroses Wed 20-Apr-05 14:29:56

I'm surprised how many people on here use the withdrawal method. I would never trust it...my dh would never be able to withdraw at that moment

I don't want any more kids so I have a coil fitted and we use condoms. I'm not taking any chances. My last baby was due to an out of date condom and he is a little terror...I'm taking no chances this time!!!

paolosgirl Wed 20-Apr-05 22:24:43

Any news, curious??????!
