Have to take everything to the extreme??

He went out for 'a pint' at 7pm last night and arrived home 4am ( clocks forwarded 5am) this morning. he is now in bed and i am left to amuse ds1 and ds2.

He's like this with evrything. when he was in a band he ate, slept and breathed the band. then it was computers and now what started as a seemingly good hobby ( riding his bike)has turned into extreme sports, bmx biking. He's built ramps and god knows what at the back of the house (attracting all the local scum), spent loads of money on bikes, pads, books, mags dvd's and the highlight of our easter break will be...oh yes..a bike show in coventry.
sorry, have pmt from hell...rant over!

he does spend alot of time with his kids as they are into the bmx bike thing like crazy too, it's just me thats left out really. I tried it and didn't like it
he hasn't been out for ages and when he said he was going for a pint i reallt thought that the staying out till 4 or 5 might be a thing of the past, obviously not!
When he was in a band thats how it was every weekend. Now he's swapped it for bikes at least he takes the boys. bet you all wonder why i'm moaning now dont ya!

Um, because he's still a child.

Lucky him.

that must be why ds2 always wants daddy rather than mummy.

Hmm, just read your post about him taking the boys. If he must have a kid's hobby, one which encourages him to spend time with his kids is a good one, imo.

Leaving you to take up manicuring/ eating easter eggs/ watching TV/ insert preferred idling activity here while they're out!

He sounds like someone who is just totally enthusiastic about whatever is his 'flavour of the month'. IME people like this won't change. He'll go through life really enjoying it and possibly making it a little harder for those around him but he will have lived. If you can't learn to live with it you better leave him, cos I don't think he will change!

I hope he is equally enthusiastic about loving you!

Mine was a bit like that, what a pain they can be. I'd have a firm word with him about it, tell him to calm down and grow up a little bit
Mine still gets a bit manic about his latest thing (collecting Carry On DVD's and associated crap at the mo) but he is better - a tantrum by me worked wonders. You should have seen him when he decided to collect football cards - even the newsagent wouldn't sell him the amount he wanted in one go...
Sympathies, I know how bloody irritating it is.

You're welcome pleaserewind - wish it made me laugh! Now if he was just as manic about weeding or ironing, that I could live with

That sounds familiar.... My partner went out last nite for a quick drink with a mate and didn't come home till 3am. He does it every weekend and its driving me mad!! I only go out about once a fortnight and if im not home by the time i say he goes crazy so about 12-1am is my latest time. Its getting me down cos im with my DS all day every day and every night feed. on my partners days off he would rather watch footie thaan look after DS and he never does feeds cos he says he 'cant do it'. I do dinner, washing, washing up, cleaning and look after DS and all on about 5 hours sleep a night. Nothing i say makes him change. His excuse is that he does shift work. He's 22 im 20.

dunno - but mine's the same. he's building a shed at the moment - from scratch, no pop to homebase for him. he got plans from the US and is "sourcing" nails for this monument to man's folly. ffs its a shed, it'll be full of old paint tins one week after completion (which, according to his work schedule, is sometime in March 2006....).

Mine can be the same , he gets totally into one thing, and thats all he does. When he was younger it was drinking and gambling, then driving, then fishing, right now it's me, which is one thing i encourage him on . He has just joined a gym though, so i expect a battle for his affections soon!

my partner's obsessions were his allotment and his best friend who lived 20 minutes walk away!!!

we've moved so no more allotment or bestfriend [grin. its lovely having my husband back, so much closely, helps with DD more often - almost like getting to know each other again!!!

having said that, he's fast asleep in the sofa!!

We got sky fitted this week. Bad idea! all he has done this week is watch every single game of football. and when there isn't football he has watched other sport that he would never watch before like golf, pool, wrestling... anything to get out of cleaning or washing
