Last week I showed my wedding photos to a woman I thought was my friend. She said they were 'lovely' and asked me where I'd got my wedding dress from and my son's suits etc.

Anyway a few days later I recognised her username on a website (she'd mentioned the site before, I'd had to odd look but never used it properly, this time I stumbled on her name by accident). Anyway the subject line was:

"Just been looking at someone's wedding photos and...."

So obviously I clicked on it, admittidly expecting that she'd written nice things about us and the message went like this: (copied and pasted)

"OMG. It was like an episode of shameless! pmsl. She'd got her wedding dress on credit from the catalogue and the kids suits looked about 3 sizes too big for them (probably so they can wear them again at her next wedding lol). The lot of them looked dog rough, tattoos showing, half of them looked pissed up, her hubby didn't even look as if he'd had a shave! I know I probably sound like a right snobby cow but honestly, can't these people even make an effort for one bloody day?"

I know its me she's on about. I started crying when I'd read it and have felt like crying ever since. I've never felt so hurt. I thought she was a friend.

Someone actually replied and put

"and this woman is your friend??"

and so she replied

"god no, she just takes her kids to the same school as we do".

I don't know whether to confront her, ignore her, reply to her post or what.

I've name changed because she knows my usual username (although as far as I know doesn't use this site).

Why are people so bloody horrible and nasty all the time? what's the point?

Oh, how awful for you.......

She sounds like someone you should give a wide berth too.

If it was me, I'd give her the cold shoulder and if she asked why, tell her. Why should you feel embarrassed? She's the one who should feel awkward.

reply on the same site

she will be mortified

what a cow, and I'm sure she is exaggerating all her comments just for a cheap laugh

although it sounds like it might backfire on her, in my opinion the sisterhood is mostly still alive and kicking today

Don't say anything. Print out the thread, put it in an envelope then when you next see her say brightly, "Ohh, I've got something for you", hand her the envelope and walk off.

Thats horrible - she sounds like a complete bitch. I'd be inclined to say confront her but I know what I'm like and wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it.

I brought my wedding photos into my work last week and was (silently) upset when a colleague commented that my hair was "different" - obviously not meant in a nice way of course!!

Did you enjoy your wedding? Did you like your dress?

Just ignore her, she's a bitch (and prob needs to exaggerate so she has something interesting to post about)

I really feel for you. I'd also write something on the other site and give her the cold shoulder in RL.

People are horrible. I never understand this - not just the meanness online, but the slagging off of other people's weddings etc. Why? If I have a great wedding, what right do you have to comment on it? Pah!

How awful for you - I would reply on the thread in question, or post another one about how someone you thought was a friend has turned out to be an odious snobbby backstabber...don't let her spoil your day though, she's not worth it x

if its common knowledge to her that you know (and she knows yours) user names online then i'd paste that onto an email and send it too her and just say "i came across this today whilst on line!....

horrible person, dont bother with her again!

She is just trying to get a cheap laugh out of you. She is a very sad cow. I think I would reply on the thread. Everyone will stand up for you as they would on here and she will be so mortified she won't want to leave the house.

Thanks Oopsy - but I think twinset's idea is even better - do it Spacewoman, let the nest of vipers help our own

What a two faced bitch. You know she's a waste of space now though.

I'd do what BitofFun says and also Pennies. You could print out this thread too.

tell us the site, we can all steam in and write a load of shite about her!

Report
jesuswhatnext · 15/09/2008 16:57

wide berth needed - she is not someone to be bothered with - she plainly sees herself as a cut above you, she is deluded! no-one with ANY class would do that, and the langugue used in her post shows is is not really 'all that'

don't do anything, just treat her with the disdain she so richly deserves.

zookeeper · 15/09/2008 16:58

What a bitch

I would make some sarcastic comment letting her know I had read her post (currently can't think of one sufficiently clever and cutting) and ignore her for the rest of your days.

EyeballsintheSky · 15/09/2008 16:58

Yes please give us the site and we'll go on and tell her what we think of her, without mentioning you obviously. I'd say we could do a pretty good job of making her feel very very small.

Rotten jealous two-faced cow. Let us at her!

Report
Saturn74 · 15/09/2008 17:01

Ignore it.
She's shown her true colours, and now you know to steer clear.
She's not worth having a confrontation with.
It would just cause you more upset.

Report
TheCrackFox · 15/09/2008 17:02

She sounds like a right cow. She is probably jealous of you and your happiness.

I would just blank her from now on. Life is too short to waste on arseholes like that.

Report
forevercleaning · 15/09/2008 17:03

yes, you steer clear, but let us at her. She wont know its anything to do with you.

Print out the thread and leave it on her desk anonymously. If by somechance it's not her then she'll think it's a bit odd. If it is, hopefully she'll apologise to you.

Either way, steer clear.

I am so sorry she has upset you. I am sure you all looked lovely on your wedding day.

If it was me, I would completely blank her and if she says anything just say godbye username

how bloody nasty.....horrible woman.

i would post on the thread i think...nothing rude or confrontational, but just something like "i bet the poor lady would be devastated to hear your hurtful comments about her wedding photos....i hope you don't value her friendship....i would want nothing more to do with you if it were me..." or something...ovbiously written in a less shit way, lol.

rise above it...you know where you are with her now. move on and know that you enjoyed your day, and i bet you looked great! x

I wouldnt let on you know, but stop talking to her. I would post on the thread about how its more important to have a personal moral ethic code (ie not slagging off people behind their backs!) than to adhere to certain stereotypical idealised wedding criteria. I would use my real name so she knows how low and shallow you think she is, but i wouldnt lower myself to talk to her about it. Its her loss. You are clearly the better person!
