If you're having sex with your DH/DP and you lose interest halfway through ...

... what do you do?

I'm interested in the other thread on this.
This happens to me now and again. My mind wanders and I lose interest.

It would never occur to me to stop him though. I just let him get on with it, perhaps throw in a bit of fakery for a swifter conclusion.

I'm interested in what others do in this situation.

Time to introduce some variety back into your sex life?

If we're interupted then sometimes the moment just passes. And we may not be interested at the start. But I haven't yet lost interest part-way through.... I now have to find the other thread to see if this is something which is eventually likely to happen!

LadyMuck it's this one but I don't think the threads are linked, exactly, as there's a lot of strong feeling on that one. It just got me thinking.

I'm quite happy to let him get on with it.

I just wonder if I'm normal, as you do.

Fake it.
Send him silly with your moans, it'll soon be over.
The other day DH had finished before the kettle had boiled!

Result Goober.

It's a balancing act though isn't it? You don't want to moan so well that he feels duty bound to stretch the whole thing out for your benefit after all.

Lol at the thought of Magnus and Mrs Magnusson.

No the trick is to do the "faster, faster" thing. Make it urgent.

Bloody hell, I'm blushing!

lol goober

How does one loose interest halfway through though?. I wouldn't loose interest, I'd just spice things up or take over.

This happened to me last night.

But slightly different circumstances as DH is having problems because of medication. It takes him a LONG time to climax.

So we had been at it for a while, I was really enjoying myself (enjoyed myself 3 times actually) but on the 3rd time I thought he was going to 'join me!' iykwim

but unfortunatly he didn't.

So I had to just say to him we had to stop.

Im 5 months pregnant and I had had enough (not in a negative way)

It wasn't nice to have to do so, leaving him unsatisfied, but i was knackered.

It did cause some tension, but he understood.

I felt bad

I suppose that was irrelevant actually as I didn't loose interest, well I did because i was done, lol. but I was by no means 'bored'.

Spidermama I can only assume you have already orgasmed by this stage so that is why you're loosing interest? In that case I think it is perfectly fine to just let your mind wonder while they 'finish' the job.

Good tip with the 'faster, faster' Goober.

I don't always lose interest halfway through. I agree it's a good idea to take over but what if you just can't be fagged and you're aware of a good film about to begin on Film4, say?

OMDB: That is cos you are not married and are therefor gagging for it!

Overmydeadbody ... (I can't believe I'm going to reveal this) I don't always climax by any means. Some days I just know I won't.

At you women who always climax. That must be lovely.

Anyway this thread is wandering.

Would/Do do the same as you OP.

I hadn't seen the thread you linked to, I thought it was going to be this one

And am obviously the same as you in other ways too spidermama

Disenchant' I've done that a handful of times. He looks hurt but understands.

It's not something I'd do lightly but if he was taking all day over it, and refusing to respond to my efforts to bring about conclusion, then it's a method I would certainly consider employing.

I usually am.
I am not always in a rush to get it over, you know. AND sometimes, I even instigate the act. Then he gets a right good seeing to!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/08/2008 14:22

spidermama thats what film 4 + 1 is for surely?

imo if you get bored halfway through sex you shouldn't have even started in the first place.

Overmydeadbody · 13/08/2008 14:23

Spidermama I sometimes only climax by making myself come, so don't be . Anyway, as Goober said, I don't exactly get regular sex anyway so make the most of it when the opportunity arises!

OK since we're being frank there have been times when I've told him to get on with it while I wash up. That's quite nice actually.

Sadly we now have a dishwasher so less opportunity for fruitful multi tasking.

Usually if I have already finished DH just gets on with it...he can get there pretty quickly! If I 'lose interest' ie I know I'm not going to get there I turn over (pre-preg days) and he finishes in seconds...
There have been times when I was really not in the mood and have stopped it, but that's usually before penetration. DH has never pressured me once I have made it clear it's not happening, although he will try to carry on groping me if I'm not clear!

You could be bending down unloading the dishwasher?

Report
DisenchantedPlusBump · 13/08/2008 14:25

Do you include other things in your bedroom routine?

I mean I don't climax through 'sex' alone, i do in certain circumstances (god I wish I had name changed now ) but not just humping!

Could you try using a vibrator?

Say half way through just bring it out from under the pillow when you feel yourself gettin bored?

Use it on yourself whilst DH is doing his bit? (I find doggy is best for this?)

Most women find it alot easier to climax with a vibrator,

it may really turn your DH on too and speed things up! lol (i think men can also feel the vibrations so can be a turn on that way)
