If you're having sex with your DH/DP and you lose interest halfway through ...

... what do you do?

I'm interested in the other thread on this.
This happens to me now and again. My mind wanders and I lose interest.

It would never occur to me to stop him though. I just let him get on with it, perhaps throw in a bit of fakery for a swifter conclusion.

I'm interested in what others do in this situation.

Time to introduce some variety back into your sex life?

If we're interupted then sometimes the moment just passes. And we may not be interested at the start. But I haven't yet lost interest part-way through.... I now have to find the other thread to see if this is something which is eventually likely to happen!

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:05:38

LadyMuck it's this one but I don't think the threads are linked, exactly, as there's a lot of strong feeling on that one. It just got me thinking.

I'm quite happy to let him get on with it.

I just wonder if I'm normal, as you do. grin

Goober Wed 13-Aug-08 14:07:19

Fake it.
Send him silly with your moans, it'll soon be over.
The other day DH had finished before the kettle had boiled!

RubyRioja Wed 13-Aug-08 14:08:08

Even Magnus Magnusson said 'I started so I'll finish'

Not read all other thread - all sounded a bit traumatic, but in the context of our marriage, I'd do the same as you.

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:08:32

Result Goober.

It's a balancing act though isn't it? You don't want to moan so well that he feels duty bound to stretch the whole thing out for your benefit after all.

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:10:32

Lol at the thought of Magnus and Mrs Magnusson.

Goober Wed 13-Aug-08 14:14:07

No the trick is to do the "faster, faster" thing. Make it urgent.

Bloody hell, I'm blushing!

Overmydeadbody Wed 13-Aug-08 14:15:18

lol goober

How does one loose interest halfway through though?hmmgrin. I wouldn't loose interest, I'd just spice things up or take over.

DisenchantedPlusBump Wed 13-Aug-08 14:15:18

This happened to me last night.

But slightly different circumstances as DH is having problems because of medication. It takes him a LONG time to climax.

So we had been at it for a while, I was really enjoying myself (enjoyed myself 3 times actually) but on the 3rd time I thought he was going to 'join me!' iykwim

but unfortunatly he didn't.

So I had to just say to him we had to stop.

Im 5 months pregnant and I had had enough (not in a negative way)

It wasn't nice to have to do so, leaving him unsatisfied, but i was knackered.

It did cause some tension, but he understood.

I felt bad

DisenchantedPlusBump Wed 13-Aug-08 14:16:06

I suppose that was irrelevant actually as I didn't loose interest, well I did because i was done, lol. but I was by no means 'bored'.

Overmydeadbody Wed 13-Aug-08 14:17:28

Spidermama I can only assume you have already orgasmed by this stage so that is why you're loosing interest? In that case I think it is perfectly fine to just let your mind wonder while they 'finish' the job.

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:17:59

Good tip with the 'faster, faster' Goober. wink

I don't always lose interest halfway through. I agree it's a good idea to take over but what if you just can't be fagged and you're aware of a good film about to begin on Film4, say?

Goober Wed 13-Aug-08 14:18:24

OMDB: That is cos you are not married and are therefor gagging for it! grin

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:19:39

Overmydeadbody ... (I can't believe I'm going to reveal this) I don't always climax by any means. Some days I just know I won't.

envy At you women who always climax. That must be lovely.

Anyway this thread is wandering.

HaventSleptForAYear Wed 13-Aug-08 14:19:40

Would/Do do the same as you OP.

I hadn't seen the thread you linked to, I thought it was going to be this one grin

Overmydeadbody Wed 13-Aug-08 14:19:46

damn you Goobs, but you are right!grin

HaventSleptForAYear Wed 13-Aug-08 14:20:35

And am obviously the same as you in other ways too spidermama blush

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:21:36

Disenchant' I've done that a handful of times. He looks hurt but understands.

It's not something I'd do lightly but if he was taking all day over it, and refusing to respond to my efforts to bring about conclusion, then it's a method I would certainly consider employing.

Goober Wed 13-Aug-08 14:21:43

I usually am.
I am not always in a rush to get it over, you know. AND sometimes, I even instigate the act. Then he gets a right good seeing to!

TheDevilWearsPrimark Wed 13-Aug-08 14:22:47

spidermama thats what film 4 + 1 is for surely?

imo if you get bored halfway through sex you shouldn't have even started in the first place.

Overmydeadbody Wed 13-Aug-08 14:23:11

Spidermama I sometimes only climax by making myself come, so don't be envy. Anyway, as Goober said, I don't exactly get regular sex anyway so make the most of it when the opportunity arises!grin

Spidermama Wed 13-Aug-08 14:23:17

OK since we're being frank there have been times when I've told him to get on with it while I wash up. That's quite nice actually.

Sadly we now have a dishwasher so less opportunity for fruitful multi tasking. grin

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight Wed 13-Aug-08 14:24:14

Usually if I have already finished DH just gets on with it...he can get there pretty quickly! If I 'lose interest' ie I know I'm not going to get there I turn over (pre-preg days) and he finishes in seconds...
There have been times when I was really not in the mood and have stopped it, but that's usually before penetration. DH has never pressured me once I have made it clear it's not happening, although he will try to carry on groping me if I'm not clear!

Overmydeadbody Wed 13-Aug-08 14:24:27

You could be bending down unloading the dishwasher?wink
