I saw this on another thread in this area and I don't get it. What are these things? I need to be informed

Twiglett Tue 01-Feb-05 10:28:06

a troll is someone who posts to cause offence / a stir

what context was 'thud' used in?

Twiglett Tue 01-Feb-05 10:28:22

that should be 'or stir up trouble'

colditzmum Tue 01-Feb-05 10:29:04

I think thud is something to do with lav1 but I'm not sure...

NotQuiteCockney Tue 01-Feb-05 10:29:14

lilsmum Tue 01-Feb-05 10:29:29

twiglett, it was a lavender thread again, that why the thud i think x

DaddyCool Tue 01-Feb-05 10:30:46

that's the one! Confused the crap out of me.

Twiglett Tue 01-Feb-05 10:31:31

Aha .. think that was a glorious JanH invention

yes it was either 'head hitting table in disbelief that here we go again' or it was 'I'm going to hit myself with a large mallet so I don't have to get on this merry-go-round again'

NotQuiteCockney Tue 01-Feb-05 10:32:03

DaddyCool, look at some other threads from lavender, and you'll understand. This one is "good".

Demented Tue 01-Feb-05 10:32:20

I understood <thud> to mean passing out with exasperation, as in many of Lav's threads or when someone says something so predicable you have no other option.

NotQuiteCockney Tue 01-Feb-05 10:33:11

Ah, thanks for explanation Twiglett. I'd understood what it was about, more or less, but not what it meant. Very applicable.

weightwatchingwaterwitch Tue 01-Feb-05 10:33:33

or this one

It is pretty amazing that a reaction to one particular poster has introduced a new internet word into our language isn't it?
