Rude famous people thread 2

Just read the whole of the first one and it's not taking new fecking messages!
I wanted to carry it on as I love sleb threads I don't have a life

I'd be GUTTED if Joanna Lumley or Glenda Jackson were horrible.

I've always felt, totally irrationally, that Dominic West would be a tit.

Dolly Parton MUST be lovely.

David Walliams gives me the serious creeps and I'm glad to read it's not just me.

Mine:
John Humphrys: twunt. Argumentative, combative, rude for the sake of being rude. Loathed him.
Graham Norton. 'met' him years ago in a room full of people, admittedly, and talked in a small group with him, but he seemed funny, sweet, surprisingly shy. He had to sort of make an entrance into our boardroom and when he opened the door and saw how many people had crowded in there to meet him he looked genuinely taken aback and a bit shaken, which I liked him for.

Desperate to know who the 'don't get funny with me, dear' author from the last thread is!

I think it was closed as was published outside of MN and was seen to be a bit mean (although I don't think that was how it was originally intended)

So you may find this gets deleted....

Asked Darren Clark (golfer ) to sign a program for a disabled child at a golf tournament.
Didn't even look at me never mind the child in his wheelchair walked straight past saying 'No'
nothing else.
He was with Justin Rose and Lee Westwood and both of them stopped and signed the program
made a fuss of the child.

"Don't get funny with me dear" sounds incredibly like nasty Kim woodburn..

It was a man and an author, apparently. For some reason I’m thinking Philip Pullman, although I hope it isn’t!
Thanks Swimming, I didn’t know that. We’ll see!

I don’t approach celebs because I think they’re entitled to be left alone, they’re not always ‘working’. And to approach them when they’re having a meal or with their family is just rude.
I once stayed in the same hotel as my all time favourite band. When I was going down to breakfast one of the guys was at his room door leaving. I just walked past and said nothing as, IMO, he was on his time off.

This kind of speculation is prurient and distasteful.

Get a life.

A couple of years ago my friend was on a quiet beach in Greece, only one other couple on it.
The woman came over asking what my friend was drinking and when she was told diet coke, said 'oh I don't think so'
and dragged her off to share a bottle of wine.
She and her dh spent the next few hours getting quietly sozzled with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
Delightful company apparently.

I've got a lovely one about Damian Lewis. A driver trod in dog poo while delivering something to his house...and Damian insisted on cleaning the shoe.

Seriously though..i feel sorry for celebs having to be "on" all the time, and being judged. Must be awful

The 'don't get funny with me, dear' comment from the first thread made me snort. Smile

I mean, even authors with A-List name recognition would only have C-List face recognition. JK Rowling would be recognised by most, but aside from her?

I have no unpleasant sleb anecdotes. I was once working somewhere where Alan Cumming was attending for a fortnight. He was quite starry but very nice, and would stop to chat every day. But he mostly gets a spot on my Good Egg list for bringing me in a bar of chocolate on his last day.

I've dragged this one out before, but the original Status Quo were so sweet to me at an airport when I was a teenage fan.

Sure you would... yes, that's exactly how you came across on your other thread too.

Own it, you want people to post stories about these 'nasty celebs' who don't give their fans what they demand.

I'm glad there are a few who can see through it.

When Terry Venables was England manager he posed specially for my 8 yr old DS to take a photo of him. He was on his way to a reception accompanied by V.Important football bods and went out of his way to stop when he saw DS with his camera.
He could have walked straight past but didn't. Instead he made DS's year and I've had a soft spot for him ever since.

The photo was really good too as I think he just relaxed in front of an 8 yr old 'photographer'!

Nice footballers who took time with young DC: Peter Crouch, David James and Sol Campbell. So lovely and patient (and they had to bend down a lot!)

Len Goodman, what a wonderful man. I used to live in the same road and dropped a note in asking if he would mind signing his autobiography (2 books colleagues had bought for Christmas presents). He called me that evening and came over and did it. Just a lovely man.

Coincidentally I moved areas shortly after this only to find he then also moved so he’s now just up the road from me! Clearly following me around Grin
