Found Receipt for expensive Jewellery in car

Got the car cleaned this Morning, and came across a receipt for expensive jewellery.. The jewellery definitely isn’t for me. Jewellery really isn’t my thing, and there’s no special occasion for him to get me anything.

Only me and my husband use the car. Although we do pick up friends from time to time. The receipt is from a few weeks ago, and on this particular day he went in to work (he usually goes in once a week) I do believe he actually went into work this day but who knows what he did after.

The receipt is from around 5;40 pm when he would have finished work. I just don’t know what to expect. Has anyone been in a similar situation ….should I just ask him about it? I don’t want to spook him if he is cheating -so then he’s extra careful. then I’ll never find out the truth!

I just have a really terrible feeling in my gut that he is cheating. Although he hasn’t shown any signs that he is at all.

Couldn’t the person who cleaned the car have dropped it?

I'd just show him the receipt and watch his reaction. That will tell you everything you need to know.

Does the receipt show any bank card details at all?

I think I'd double check bank statements but I have access to all of our accounts.

What about jewellery as gift to his mother/sister/daughter? Could he have bought himself a watch or cufflinks?

Does the receipt have the last 4 numbers of his card on it?

I doubt someone cleaning cars for a living can afford expensive jewellery and just happens to have the receipt with them.

How much is it for? Was it paid in cash or by card?

Who cleaned the car and how did you come across the receipt? How as it paid for, if by card do the last 4 digits match your DH's card?

Have you checked that the receipt has the last numbed of his card?

I.e are you sure it is his receipt?

Doesn't sound great but there could be other explanations. Do some digging Flowers

Does it itemise or name the jewellery?

Look it up online.

Wtaf 😂 what a horrible post, people who clean cars can get access to money for many reasons, gifts, inheritance, savings etc.

@Bluntness100 not a horrible post at all.

I asked the person who cleaned the car about it. - he knew nothing about it. The last 4 digits of the card number are there thanks for those who suggested it- he’s at work today I will check his card when he is back.

It’s a bracelet and a ring! he has no sisters and he doesn’t buy gifts for his mum- I tend to!

I was thinking about asking him about it and watching he’s reaction but he’s extremely smart he probably has some sort of story ready. And he has a great poker face!

Check the last 4 digits on the card.
Could it be a gift for a relative?
What jewellery is it? Could it be a leaving present or similar for someone at work and he just had the responsibility of picking it up?

Just give him the receipt, don't say anything, don't even say that you found it, just show it to him.

Cross post but the present for a colleague could still work, although who buys a bracelet and a ring together, and a ring is a really personal thing, unless it's from Pandora?

@HollowTalk yeah it was a shitty, judgmental post.

OP I'd also wait and check the 4 digits on the card. However, I paid for a meal a few weeks ago and for some reason that I've not been able to figure out, the 4 digits on the receipt are not the same 4 digits that are on my card, even though the money has been debited from my account 🤷🏼‍♀️

If he was buying a gift for a female friend or relative he would defiantly ask me about it. He is a typical guy he’s clueless when it comes to buying gifts for women.

I just looked at our WhatsApp chat for that day… and it’s getting worse at 9:30 pm he messaged me saying he’s on his way back (from where???) I wish I could remember where he told me he was going that day. It’s likely he told me he went out with friends, but after the Jewelry was purchased on the same day….surely that’s too much of a coincidence???. Just can’t wait for him to come back now so I can look at his card!

I agree with mrspelligrinopetrichor

I could swallow that the bracelet was a gift for a colleague. A ring not so much.

Oh no :( so he bought some expensive jewellery and then went out for the evening... Sorry but I think he's cheating and I don't often jump to those conclusions...

I hope it's not, but it doesn't look great right now.
You say he'll have a story ready- has he done anything like this before?
