Why would he delete text messages?

We split up in November.
He always twisted things to make him right and him wrong.
I said to him you have treated me so badly.
He sent me screenshots of convos between us going back years of me "loosing my temper"
I looked over them and he had deleted his messages to just show mine.
So all the ones of him swearing at me or telling me women were flirting etc he deleted and just showed my reply's (does that make sense)
Why do that ?
He's a proper mind fuck..

It doesn't matter why he does that.

It's not your problem any more.

Block and forget

If you split up in Nov, why be in contact now?
Grey rock him. Delete block.

He's rewriting history to fit his narrative - I'd respond 'don't be ridiculous, you've edited our messages, I still have the original messages saved too. Please stop contacting me now we are no longer together'

And then block him.

He doesn't sound very bright Grin

Why are you still engaging with him ?

Why are you texting each other exactly? Confused

Because he's a bloody weirdo and you're best off out of it.

Start today by blocking him already.

If you have children or other factors that mean you have to have contact, stop rehashing the relationship and limit what you discuss to the children/practicalities.

You're only feeding into the toxicity by trying to get him to admit his fault.

This was 3 weeks ago I've just been looking over the messages.
I have him blocked now.
I just didn't understand what he was hoping to achieve by doing this.
Unless he was showing people them to prove how "hard done by he was"

Of course he’s rewriting history, so he’s the good guy and you’re the bad guy. So he can play it over and over again in his head or to his family, boo hoo she was a psycho hose beast and in poor mister nice guy, boo hoo.

Glad you’ve blocked. You know the truth. Even if he’s blocked it out.

It could be he’s kept those texts for evidence in the event if anything legal that he needed proof that you were the bad guy for. Like a divorce or getting child custody or something. So he could use against you in a court or so he could murder you and then claim it was self defended as you went in a psychotic rage and he had to defend himself. However the police would recover all the other messages and prove him wrong. So he’s be well fucked.

Sounds like you’re better off without him. You deserve better than him.

He’s trying to make you look like the bad one. Personally I’d reply with “I have no time for you now, what happened in the past is the past” and block him. He wants to get a rise out of you, don’t let him.
