So a four day court case for the man who abused me

Is this pretty standard to set aside a few days for each case?
I was hoping it would be done in a day

Also - I can't enter the courtroom until I give evidence
So do I go elsewhere and come back to the court when needed??

It is next October so I have time
Just mentally trying to plan ahead for this

((((Hugs)))) no experience of court but wanted to post thank you for reporting him. When I reported my ex WA came to interviews and offered support through court. I applaud your bravery in getting away and your courage and persistence to get to court.

Victim support may vary across country - in my area/view volunteers are poorly trained and not at all au fait with the intricacies of DA/sexual assault.

At least with WA you should have someone who knows the ‘script’/bs and can help support you through that.

Police should have a protocol to help victims, ime its like VS - weighted to believe the man and not v subtle about it.

I am incredibly proud of you for standing up and going to court and I hope wherever you are you can find the support thats right for you Flowers

Thank you so much

Met police have been great
And I would urge anyone else in my shoes to do the exact same and press charges

Feeling scarred but optimistic xxx

Yes but in a different country

They were amazing and already did loads

Scary thoughts

And for once in two years I feel a bit sorry for him
What he has to answer to

But he is a monster behind his facade that much I do know

Is it at a magistrates court? If so then four days does seem to be a long time for a case - usually that length of time is solely for very complicated cases involving multiple witnesses, defendants etc. I would imagine that you'd only be needed for one day though, to give your evidence.

Usually there will be a special room for witnesses at the court, and that's where you'll be until you're called for evidence. This is so you won't bump into your ex at any point. Once you've given your evidence and been cross-examined you'll be free to go, although if you wanted to you could watch the rest of the trial from the public gallery. You can also request screens while you give evidence so you don't have to see your ex at all, if that's what you want.

It will probably be done in less than a day .

They always set aside enough days for a worst case scenario- ie - him going not guilty and trial by jury .

Trust me - if the evidence is good enough to get
It to court then he will almost 99.9 % be advised by his brief to go guilty but not till the day of the trial . There is a reason for this - if you didn't show the case would be thrown out as no evidence offered.
It's a game of chicken .
If you merely turn up - chances are he'll go
Guilty in the day and go straight for a sentencing date . You go home . No trial for a
Guilty plea .

I'm guessing crown court not magistrates.

Crown is better. Turn up . That's all you will need to do . Then you'll wait around for about 4 hours before you're told he's gonna guilty and can go home .

No way

So I have counted
25 strong pieces of evidence
Body cam
Health visitor report
Hospital report from rope on my neck (my fault apparently according to him)

Plus around ten others inc three v credible witnesses

Emails from the madman saying sorry for what I did that day I stopped myself from killing you please be happy I did that blah blah

Hope he pleads guilty

Wonder have many others been in this situation too??

He is so arrogant he believes I am the one who'll be in trouble for being unkind to him

Maybe he thinks il be sentenced not him 🤣🤣🤣

Just turn up . He will be advised to go guilty. Then you home ! And he gets sentenced.
