You found out he had taken another women’s number and called / contacted her the days after? I found out and his excuse was she put the number in his phone and he was calling her to let her know he wasn’t interested 🙄 I know, I know!

This was last year but I just feel I can’t trust him again after this.

Absolutey not. What a lame excuse!

If he wasn’t interested then her number would never have even made it onto the phone, never mind not being deleted and him phoning to tell her anything.

I couldn’t trust him again.

Nope. He might have taken it in a moment of stupidity, but in that case, I would expect him to just delete it.

Nope. Slippery slope that will always be a slope.

No, I'd dump him

In all honesty, I think it depends on the circumstances, whether or not you genuinely believe it went no further, whether or not you generally feel you can trust him and the quality of your relationship generally.

For example, how long had you been together at the time? If it was in the early stages of your relationship then I think it would potentially be okay (assuming you believe that it went no further).

no

Just no. If she put her own number into his phone then he handed her the phone. And even if not, surely he'd just block and delete the number if he wasn't interested?

Report
Shodan · 14/09/2020 14:03

Did she wrestle his phone from him, to be able to put her number in?

I would think a man who genuinely wasn't interested would just delete the number without any further thought. He definitely wouldn't call her the next day to tell her he wasn't interested.

He's lying to you, and not even bothering to do it well.

No, rubbish excuse.

No. He shouldn’t have even been in a situation where he was getting friendly enough that he handed his phone over to her to put the number in.
Unless he’s pretending that she pickpocketed him first to get the phone too. Would be just as believable.

Trust your instincts. My ex was gaslighting me for two years after I found texts on his phone. My trust issues got worse and worse, and he taunted me with it. Then I caught him doing it again.

If the trust is gone, its gone. And I wouldn't have believed that he was contacting her to say he wasn't interested. He wouldn't have handed over his phone to start with if he wasn't. :(

Did she overpower him and take the ‘phone? Unlikely. And why did he not delete the number later if so?

How did you find out? Did he confess our of the blue, or was he caught?

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 14/09/2020 14:53

if that was all there was...a new number and a single call then I might think twice about any overreactions but if my spidey senses had been kicking off or he has form then there would be a heavy and unhappy (for him) conversation

How did you find out OP??

AtrociousCircumstance · 14/09/2020 14:54

Not only did he betray your trust, he insulted you with a stupid lie.

Ugh.

Total bollocks that she put her number in his phone. That's got to be one of the lamest excuses I've read!

He's such a bad liar. I'd ditch him for that alone.

Depends but in this context I’d say no! He’s obviously lying through his teeth!

I’d get rid!

We had been together for a year at the time and had just moved in together.
I was more insulted that he thought I would believe his pathetic excuses but after his begging and crying I ended up forgiving him. I guess I’ll never know how far it would have actually gone as I found out so that’s what bothers me the most.

I’ve tried to move passed it but I don’t think I’ll ever trust him in the same way.

There isn't a "must dump by" time limit.
