How do you all know what love is?
How would you explain love to someone?
How do you know you love someone?

Having been in a twenty year relationship where I asked that question all the time, I’m now in a seven year one, and can confidently say, ‘you just do.’

Love is something that develops over time, it comes from sharing happy moments consistently and feeling like they respect you and reciprocate. It's not desperate, it's comfortable. It's when you have utmost respect for them and you're a team

When you want to spend a lot of time with someone, due to them either being the complete opposite of you, and something clicks, or they share the same view of life and the same interests, and you feel you instinctively know them, and you feel a buzz off them. They make you feel happy (?) You feel as if you could share everything you have with them (?)
All of the above is open for debate !

When you care about someone else as much or more than you care about yourself.

"How do you spell love?" Winnie the Pooh asked Piglet

"You don't spell it, you just feel it" replied Piglet.

I think you just know.

I don’t know how I would explain it, for me it isn’t just an emotion its a physical sensation.

How do you know you love someone, its probably different for everyone. For me its the feeling I get when I watch him playing with my son, feeling completely safe and comfortable around him, wanting to do boring everyday stuff like cooking but wanting him to always be there to do it with him.

Love is a temporary madness.
It errupts like an earthquake and then it subsides.
You have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away and this is both an art and a fortune accident.

Yep, never confuse it with being 'in love', totally different. With love you grow together as people, but you keep awareness. I have to disagree with, Pelleas, however, you should never feel like you love someone else more than yourself IMO, that's not healthy. With love you see clearly, you trust because you know it's reciprocated, but you also know that if that trust is broken you still have enough love for yourself and family to carry on, so you are together because you want to be, not because you need to be.
