Dreading my zoom call tonight !

I've been invited to do a zoom quiz tonight by a guy I had a couple of dates with before lockdown. I'm thinking of avoiding as I hate the way I look on FaceTime I always seem to look huge and fat faced ! I look alright in real life I think but FaceTime seems to accentuate all the bad points. Should I cancel or go ahead and have fun on the quiz !!

Have fun.
Also, angles. angle the camera down, it's more flattering.

Go ahead and have fun! Switch off the bit that means you see yourself if you can so you don't feel so self conscious and don't go on about how awful you look, because you don't, you're just not used to seeing yourself like that - it's weird for everyone!

Lighting makes a huge difference! Either ve facing the window (if it's still light outside) or in front of a lamp. Have a go with your selfie camera.

And also just have fun :) everyone will be busy quizzing and and socialising.

I put my laptop up on a box/pile of books in front of me, so the camera is looking down at me. Much better than me looking down at it, creating several more chins. I go onto zoom a few minutes early to set myself up.

You have to have the camera up high, facing down so you’re looking slightly up. No double chin. Don’t look down into the camera or straight on. Practice with different levels and lighting before you join in. Wear a dark simple top with a light background and soft glow lighting.

If you click on Video Settings (bottom left hand side, if on laptop) then there is an 'improve my appearance' function which smooths skin etc and I think makes a difference!

Go ahead and have fun!
