Could she be going through a tough time and be a bit self-absorbed because of that?
Maybe try to have a chat with her about it.

Is she always like this? Is this a new thing?

I've experienced that a lot. I think its because said people are either very self absorbed at that moment or you're not a priority

Yes it really does! She doesn’t sound interested. If it’s you always contacting her then you’re not a priority for her

Stop contacting her and see what happens?

You can do a few things: don't contact again, contact and talk about yourself reminding her I suppose that you're a person too or wait for them to contact you. To be honest she might just be going through something or it didn't occur to her. I've definitely been like that!! Best of luck OP!!!

Is this a bad sign for the friendship? Up until a few months ago friend seemed to have nice, normal social skills, asked usual how are you, what have you been up to questions. For the past few months nothing. We've had a couple of FaceTime catch ups where she hasn't asked me anything about how I'm doing. Yesterday we had quite a long text exchange because she has a big thing at work next week and again not one question about how I am. I get that people can sometimes be absorbed in their own issues but this has been going on since before lockdown. Even if I wasn't particularly interested in the answer, social niceties would mean that if someone asked how I was, I would always ask the other person in response. As I type this message, I've realised that it is also pretty much always me contacting her. Does it sound like she has just lost in being my friend?
