I think (converted to £'s) it was about £1500, and it was a HUGE white wedding (500+ guests - some just popping in for part of the reception).

mine was 7 (well nearly 8) years ago - and would probably cost a fraction of that now if we had it in the same place

Less than 2k intentionally. Best day of my life.

We did ours last sept for two grand, cos that was all we had! Civil ceremony in beautiful town hall, budget photography which was great, monsoon dresses for bridesmaids, mine was£300, had a buffet in local social club, made a CD comprised of all our guests fave songs which they had written on rsvps, hired a clown for the kids, had one sis do bridesmaids hair and the other sis did my make up. Got loads of good deals ! Was cheap but cheerful and every1 had fantastic time, personally think its criminal to spend what some do, but then I wud say that!

Ours was around the £6000 mark.

And we paid for it all ourselves.

A friend make the cake for us. The flowers were more expensive than my dress!!

Dress: £450 Shoes £50
B'maid dresses: Material £75/ labour £150
Flowers:£750
2 cars: £400
Photography £900
cake: FREE
Bands: £500 (both of them)
Reception: £1500 (meals for about 80 people & an evening buffet) The meals were £10 a head & then they charged us corkage & pouring.

(I actually went & found our wedding book to get those costs! LOL) Also this was 10 years ago!!

I have no idea, my parents paid for everything except my dress and my bridesmaid's dress which I bought. My main focus was to get dh legally bound to me so that I could keep him forever, I would have been just as happy going down the registry office in jeans.

I found a sheet of paper with some of our costings on last night. I think the whole thing was about £3000 but my friend pointed out that my dress was £300 and I spent about £700 on the three bridesmaid's dresses!

No one's mentioned celebratn/officiant fees. Is this because you get it included in the cost of venue hire ir you do it in a hotel/restaurant which is licensed for weddings?

Report
binkleandflip · 04/09/2007 21:22

they tend to factor it into the cost as I remember. You have to get the licence yourself though.

I didnt include rings and honeymoon in my total - probably for the best

madamez - the priest that married us was a friend and did it for nothing, as did the man who let us use his car for the entire day (well I did help to restore it ), the organist also played for free as he was another acquaintance of mine, and the chapel/hall were free too (though we did give a small donation) as they were the school ones.

ours was going to be about £300,but i'd say by the time we've actually done it(october 20th) we will have doubled that.originally,we were going to have registry office with very close family only and no party after, now we are having registry office(£100)followed by pub function room buffet/disco(£200).outfits have totalled £200+ sofar, and i still havent found any fecking underwear to go under my dress.sorry,im having nork issues.

I think I remember totting ours up and it was about £13K but £4K of that was our honeymoon. This was in 1999.

Wedding was fabulous, honeymoon was out of this world.

Still - a huge amount of money really.

Mind was about 6k, back in 1997. We had a lovely day, with everything we wanted - basically a really special celebration with lots of lovely people wishing us well.

I gather costs have gone up rather, though. My sister is having to shell out something like £600 for the registrar alone, apparently (civil ceremony at a hotel).

Our wedding was around £2,000 in 1995, hired dresses, hotel reception (meal for around 20, buffet at night for around 100), band, professional photograper, flowers, cake etc. We then spent about £500 (including spending money) on our honeymoon.

Report
divastrop · 04/09/2007 22:29

Dress I designed myself and had it made. With the veil and tiara it was about 800.

Church and organ was around 350.

Flowers were about 300.

Photographer 350.

Suit hire about 400 for everyone, some of which was paid by those wearing the suits.

Car hire about 200.

Caterer 1200 plus whatever we spent on wine/bubbly.

DJ 150 for the night.

BBQ food for night 60ish.

Bar 100 and then people bought their own.

Cake 350.

Made my own seating plan and invites at a cost of no more than 80/100.

Table decs and disp. cameras about 50/60.

Honeymoon a gift from a friend as they own a house in SW France.

My brother played Sax at the reception and we borrowed the owner of the stable's garden for some pics.

Bridesmaids dresses made by mum's friend, came to 50 for materials (2 dresses).

Gifts for bridesmaids and best man and flowers for the mums - about 100 altogether.

Plus a contingency of 1 or 2k which I don't know what we spent it on. 5-7k all told. In 2003.
