Bickering in long marriage

I was wondering if any long time marrieds have this too and how they deal with it.
Neither of us want to separate but get on each other’s nerves.
We do have separate lives ( another story really ) and have always spent long times away (work).
There are far too many reasons to stay together but this constant bickering ( both ways) is wearing.
Any tips?

Stop bickering!
Stop pressing each others buttons.
Stop reacting to the situation.
Walk away and breathe!
Don't engage in petty squabbling.
It gets you nowhere.
Could you do couples counselling?
Get to the route cause of it and try to understand why it happens?
