I would take anything a 'Drunk' boyfriend said with a pinch of salt.. and debate the issue when he is Sober Flowers

Is he often verbally abusive when he's been drinking?

Well, we’d need more information than that to work it out. But from that snippet, he comes off way worse.

He's drunk and verbally abusing you? Time for him to go.

Maybe you're selfish. Who knows? But he'd better have a really really good reason to call you a fucking bitch.

More information needed but I doubt it.

Either way, do you want to be with someone who calls you that?

Regarding being selfish - it depends, whats the backstory here?

Regarding being a fucking bitch - do you accept being spoken to like that?

If I was spoken to like that my boyfriend would become an ex boyfriend. I wouldn't forget that in a hurry.

Massive apologies from him today.
I’m weary and wary

Is he regularly drunk and abusive?

Report
tumblrpigeon · 05/11/2017 21:19

No he’s never drunk and abusive.
So out of character.
Despite this , and the profuse apology I’m really shaken.

No backstory.
He was out for 5 hours in the pub watching football with his friends. This is a regular occurrence when a certain team plays. He is often out till after 10 pm.

I enjoy the peace and quiet. In fact I went to bed.
Woke at about 7 pm and popped over to best friend’s house for an hour. I left my bag and phone in the hall and when I left I had several missed calls and messages from him asking where I was and why I was not picking up.

This continued at home. Till he went to bed

Did his team lose?

Apparently is not unusual for some people to go home and take out their team losses on their partners. It is quite a thing with big games.

It is not acceptable.

He's regularly shit faced? What are his good points?

Report
MrsTerryPratchett · 05/11/2017 21:54

Does he have an explanation?

Report
tumblrpigeon · 05/11/2017 23:15

Drunk, not shit faced.
No idea if the team lost. He’s not that into sport , he likes the social aspect with a group of friends.

He took out his upset over a difficult work situation (a client didn’t pay him) on me. Was mortified when he sobered up;

Sorry but I wouldn't live with a verbally abusive drunk. If drinking makes him act this way he needs to stop. And you have to be pretty shit faced to think it's ok to talk to someone like that.

Ruddygreattiger2016 · 05/11/2017 23:43

No fucking chance I would be around anyone, friend or boyfriend, who talked to me like that, drunk or not.

Often alcohol opens the door to thoughts that are kept well hidden from the light of day. When drunk, did he say why he felt that way?

Now that he is sober those thoughts will be back in the box but you have seen what can open it (drink and stress) are you both able to resolve the feels together before they come again?

Truth comes out when drunk he's mortified as your complaining give it 6 months of this then it'll become normal behaviour 12 months he don't need an excuse of being drunk to say these things. Most people when a client doesn't pay send a reminder letter not abuse their girlfriend.

I don't find drunkeness appealing in men or women. I'm amazed that so many people put up with it.
