marriage abroad where can I divorce?

Hello,

I have been married for 10 years. We have an 18 months old daughter but unfortunately we have decided to divorce.
I have a British passport and we married abroad (South America). I wonder if I need to get a divorce first in the country I got married and then I can start the divorce paperwork in the UK? Or is it ok doing this only in the UK?

Does anyone recommend a website or solicitors’ firm?

Many thanks

I was married in Kenya and divorce proceedings took place in the U.K. All you need is the original marriage certificate. Is the respondent in the U.K.?
I went through quickiedivorce.com - not sure if they're still around though.

AFAIK you divorce in the country where you live, regardless of where you got married.

Even if you live outside the UK at present, you can make a case that you are domiciled in the UK (you have strong ties to the UK - a house, bank accounts, etc) even if your residence may be elsewhere for the time being) to divorce in the UK.
