Finding love late 30s

recently turned 38 and been single 9 years now and just feeling a bit crap about it all.
What are my chances of finding love after 38? should I just settle as I feel time is running out for me and don't want a future alone?
Do others find at this age they have to date a lot older as men our age want younger?
Any success stories of finding love late 30s would be great
Already have a child so not bothered about finding someone to have a child with which is good as otherwise I probably would of remained childless.

I'm 45. Single parent. Last 5 years single out of choice. Met someone last year, same age etc all going really well.

Don't sweat it, just be open minded, enjoy your life and be kind to yourself. Say yes to socialising as much as you can then you are at least opening up to the possibility xxx

I met my partner when I was 38 through OLD. I went on dates with a few different guys, with varying levels of success. I just made sure I was out and about and enjoying myself. I really enjoyed meeting a variety of different people and anything romantic was a bonus.

My partner didn't tick many of my dating boxes but I gave him a chance and there was a spark there. Two years on we're living together and recently got engaged.

I don't think it's ever too late to meet someone but you have to be confident in the person you are and enjoy your life as it is.

I got together with late-DH when I was 39, I'd been single for about 3 years after exH left.
It certainly wasn't "settling", it was a fantastic relationship.

I hope that at some point in the future I'll be finding love again.

44 years old, got two kids, met someone special just over a year ago. Definitely not settling. Can't believe my luck.

If I can you definitely can! Think the thing is to just have a full and enjoyable life and be very open to 'people'

Interestingly, I literally the last 3 weeks three of my long terms single friends have announced relationships. Two single in excess of 10 years, one divorced 3 years ago. All men aged 36-37.

It's disingenuous to say 'of course there's someone out there for you etc.' However, I think it's very possible you can find love at any time in life.

Met someone OLD at 37 he was 41. Now live together nearly three years later. It's harder when you both have 'baggage' but absolutely possible.

I don't get this. As long as you're willing to put the time into OLD there is no reason why you won't meet people. I'm 36 with a DC and get lots of interest from men from 30-mid 40s.

I'm 40 and met my BF six months ago. He's 36, so you don't necc have to go older. And he's absolutely lovely.
Another of my friends, same age, has been with her boyfriend for about 10 months now, they've just started living between their houses (he has a country retreat!)
Keep the faith! Grin

I'm 39 and met my partner last year. I've found to be very careful and not to rush things - sometimes there are very good reasons men are still single at nearly 40. Not always of course but I have met more than my fair share on man-child idiots...

Did loads of OLD and it didn't really work for me, although it was a huge boost to my confidence.
I met DH at 38 through mutual friends. Funnily enough, they'd not thought to introduce us before as they didn't think we'd get on (I'm hugely independent, feisty, confident, my DH is more of a gentle soul) but we met at a party and hit it off straight away. He lived in London and I was in the Midlands, so it wasn't an easy start to the relationship but we knew it was worth it and worked at it.
We got engaged after a year, he moved up shortly afterwards and we bought a house together, married after 18 months of being together and expecting our first child after 3 years.
We are very happy and very compatible. It's not been an easy journey, but well worth it.
There are still some good ones out there, I hope you find yours.

Hi OP - I turn 38 this year and I've only just met the man I know I want to spend the rest of my life with. I was married when I was in my twenties but looking back we weren't suited at all, and grew out of each other very quickly. I didn't think I'd get a second chance . . . but I did, and I'm thankful every day for this beautiful man. Hang in there!
